Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Crib Aquarium keeping nosy/alert baby awake?

Did anyone else have this issue? My LO is 4 months and I wanted to get one as a soother for the crib, but when I put him down drowsy, then turn it out, his eyes get all bug eyed and wide staring at it in awe and it almost wakes him out of that drowsy stage. Just wondering if that is typical or if he will eventually get used to it in there and use it more as a soother instead of a play toy.

I think it can go either way. Some kids get too fired up by stimulating items in the crib, some do just fine. DS couldn't have anything in the crib because it just made him want to play.

I agree. I couldn't put anything in DS's crib either because he would just think it's playtime.

We can't either. The room has to be completely dark too, no nightlight.

Yes! So I guess it's not that weird we can't have a night light. I've gotten really good at moving around in the dark.

  • I use the aquarium but at this point I usually have the lights and motion off and just use the music.  If he's fussy I turn on the lights and motion to calm him but turn them off after he settles.
