I might be dumb...

I just put DS in his crib for the night...for the first time. Why am I trying this on a Tuesday? I think I'm just asking for trouble! DS has never napped well in his crib and I've been dreading this transition. I guess I'll see how this goes...

  • I just did the same! Cole had been in his swing for months. I hadn't tried the crib since he was a newborn. I am being extra brave ... transitioning from swing to crib, unswaddling, and stopping nursing to sleep ... all at once. I might be effing crazy!!!

Good luck to you. I will be interested to hear how it goes for you.

Wow!  Good luck to the both of you.  I am beginning to consider moving Jack to the crib because he is starting to hit the sides of the cosleeper with his legs and he is inching down like a wiggle worm now. I wanted to wait until 6 months, but just like everything, the plans is going out the window.

I tried deswaddling this weekend and we had another epic failure. I am just going to keep trying every weekend.  But, yes...you're crazy for trying this on Tuesday! Haha...maybe your LO will cooperate and you'll be glad you didn't wait!

We swaddle arms out and it works great in the crib! Good luck!

I haven't attempted this yet and I'm terrified. She doesn't sleep unless she's swaddled, but she can roll from back to tummy so I don't want to swaddle her in her crib which is why she's still in the RnP. My pedi strongly recommended getting rid of the swaddle so we plan to do that ASAP.

Yay!!!! We are going on about 2.5 hours so far. I think this is the first time that he has ever slept that long on a flat surface. No matter how the rest of the night goes, I'll take this as a win.

  • I am also doing the crib thing tonight. My LO has been in the swing for a month and I attemping the crib and one arm swaddled out. Havent stopped the feeding before bed yet though.
  • It's quite ironic that my toddler (who always SSTN) is the one having a rough night. Cole is still going strong after about 4 hours. He had a huge loud man fart a little while ago that I thought would wake him up, but all it really did was make my boobs tingle. If only I could get some sleep for myself ... I am wide awake.

  • It's a miracle. He slept from 8pm-3am which is great for him on any night! If I was following my pedi's advice, I was supposed to let him cry 5 minutes when he woke up before picking him up. I also was supposed to help to sleep without nursing. After 7 hours of sleep, I couldn't do that to Cole on the first night. I picked him up and nursed him back to sleep. I am just waiting to see if he stays asleep because he has been very restless since I put him down. I will call tonight a success no matter what happens the rest of the night. Hope that you are having a successful night as well, jjdillie. I look forward to hearing how it went for you.

I can totally relate, about a  week or so ago, I put DD in her crib at about 8:30, because she was totally exhausted.  She slept for the next 4 nights from 8pm - 3am, with a little variation in that.  I think any time making that transition for them to the crib, is a win!  Granted, my LO has slept with DH and I the last couple of nights, for sheerly selfish reasons.  DH works out of town for 3 weeks at a time, and he was really wanting some good snuggle time, so he has been getting that at night and in the morning when I go to work, he now leaves for 3 weeks and is without either of us that whole time.  But DD seems to transition very well with the crib, or the swing.  She hasn't swaddled since she was about 8 weeks or so, she moves too much.
