When did your kids truly start walking? V has been cruising since december and taking steps for about 5 weeks and while she seems to be getting better the progress towards truly walking seems painfully slow.
She is a former 25 weeker, now 18.5 months. She did not experience any brain bleeds. We get PT 1x/week. We have push toys galore. any insight?
Re: micro moms
thanks. I needed to hear this. The progress has just been so slow that I am starting to get frustrated.

Adalyn is a 26 weeker and she started walking a couple of weeks ago a little bit before 15 months. She had been cruising since about Feb/March, so it took a while from cruising to walking. She wanted NOTHING to do with push toys. She would just turn into spaghetti legs when we tried to get her to push/walk with them.

This sounds a lot like my DD. she can't get to standing from the ground. She has to pull up on something... Hence crawling is much more efficient. Was there anything that helped him get to standing on his own?
We do use the stool exercise a lot! She is pretty confident getting from sitting on the stool to walking to us.
My gut tells me that her core is still quite weak and she spends a lot of time in flexion and there are probably some spatial/balance issues related to that.
I'm just starting to see how her lack of walking is starting to hold her back in other development.

Thank you for these suggestions. they are very helpful! We will have to get the yoga ball back out. We used it for alot of tummy time and core activities when she was little but we should bring it back out. Our PT is letting us borrow a balance disc and we try to do a few activities each day on that.
Its so ironic because at one point we were so worried that she might not crawl and go straight to knee walking or something similar so we worked really hard on crawling and she mastered that right around 12.5 months actual. patience... patience...
