Babies: 6 - 9 Months

visible veins in face

I was wondering if anyone else has the same going on with their LO's skin. My son was born with visible red spider veins in his cheeks and ears. They are now a little more faint and blue/purple. I know babies have thin skin, but is this normal? Anyone else? I was thinking maybe it had something to do with his rosy cheeks as well, but I don't know. He does have a fair complexion. Of course I look it up and all these really frightening genetic diseases pop...what?! Ugh.

Re: visible veins in face

  • I have that. Both my daughters have it. You could literally trace every vein on my body just about. I don't know what skin type your LO one has, but we're pale, so I just assumed it had something to with it.

  • Thank you for your replies. I am quite fair skinned and so is my husband--I have visible blue veins on my chest but they are not spider veins. I spoke with my pedi's nurse and she said it was b/c of his thin/fair skin and they would fade. I'm sure she is right. I just wish I could have the Dr. look at it and say: yep that is normal. Now I have to wait till his 9 mo. check up. (I guess I don't HAVE to, but they never schedule me appts for stuff like this).
