I used to have really bad allergies, then we moved... So my advice is move here!
Ok seriously, It takes a little while for medicine to really start working. Claritin never worked for me when they put it OTC. So I went to see the doctor and he prescribed a medicine for my allergies and I cannot remember what it's called! Lol
Claritin doesn't always work for me either. I use Benadryl but at night only because it makes me drowzy and if my alergies doesn't let me sleep. The only advice I can give you if when your eyes itch. I use eye drops [Visine for alergies] and then I put something cold over my eyes. After a couple of minutes I'm perfect.
I used to have patients who didn't get relief with claritin. But if they tried something else like zyrtec or allegra they had better results. Maybe try switching to a different medication and see if that provides more relief. I hope you guys feel better- allergies are not fun!

I'm avoiding allergy meds right now. the only thing that has helped us is turning on our.central air. I really enjoy fresh air at this time of year, but the conditioned air.does wonders for my horrible allergies!

Our little guy seems to have allergies (fine inside, a huge, boogery mess outside). We're not giving him any meds but my google research has turned up the following:
1- Allergens are most prevalent in the early morning hours (before 10am). Try to go out after that if possible.
2- Obviously, everyone recommends you stay inside, but If you have a kid like mine who just HAS to get outside, give them a bath after if possible. E literally rolls in the grass and plays with leaves, so I tried this today and it worked really well. If you don't have time for a full bath, they say to make sure to do hands and face and change their shirt.
3- If you're not using meds, saline drops might be good to "wash out" the nose.
I've suffered from horrible allergies my whole life. I've been told by a nurse the amount of things I'm allergic to is astounding! I've never gotten any relief from Claritin. AllegraD has worked really well for me. And since my bfp I've been taking Zyrtec when they're really bad and it helps. I don't take Allegra while pregnant. Also Benadryl helps but makes most people sleepy. If eyes are a problem, I'd definitely reccomend trying allergy eye drops.
