I've posted before about this. The difficulty I have sometimes with my new boulevard seat. Dd is 14 mos and ever since I got it its a pain in the butt to extend the straps and seems like they stop extending very short. Which led me to complain about it because there would be no way to put a 2 year old in there.
Anyway apparently the seats no longer come with an additional strap for stage two and up. So I need to speak with them and have them send one free of charge. Just an FYI I wish I had known before the purchase.
Re: FYI Britax boulevard new seats
I am confused. I have an older boulevard for DD (2011) and it is very easy to adjust straps. And I don't for recall it coming with an extra strap. A couple months ago I bought two more for when DS is enough enough to use them. What is the difference? Does it not adjust by pulling up on the top like the old seats? Should my seat have had an additional strap?
This, I have had several Britax car seats (marathon, boulevard and frontier) and have never had issues with the straps not being long enough, or needing an "extra strap". My three year old still fits comfortably RFing in the boulevard, and there is plenty of room to grow when it's time to FF her.
hummm I have one from 2011 and a new one that I have not opened. Are you having issues loosening it? If it is not extending the way they claim it should have they offered to exchange it? Mine sometimes stops but if i pull hard enough it is fine. Can u uninstall the seat to see if the straps are somehow twisted? It did take me a while to get use to the button method of loosening it. Do you have an older model you are comparing it to because I have never seen an extra strap with this brand of seat. Like the pp I have a three year old who rear faces
I'm sorry you're having a hard time with your car seat. It is a fairly common problem.
The Britax series of convertible car seats is unfortunately not ready outofbox for an older child, with only the shorter straps included. You can, however, contact Britax to have them send you longer straps, free of charge.
When I asked him if what he was telling me was that the newest edition only supports newer babies he said :
Just in the harness, yes, that is the case. The rest of the seat is still wellsuited for an older child.
I've recently spoken to Britax about the issue, and for whatever reason they no longer come with the longer straps.
They are very good about getting that strap to you, I understand. I'm sorry for the inconvenience all the same.
So I'm going to call britax tomorrow and see what they say about this. It did take me some time too to figure out the way the straps loosen but they just stop. And the tightening cord doesn't move much.
I wouldn't take what an employee at a retail has to tell me about a car seat, they generally don't know what they are talking about. I hope you have better luck talking directly to Britax.
Ill post again tmrw as soon as I speak to britax.
