I have a VBAC consult appointment set up for next Wednesday. Basically just an appointment to feel out or "grill" my OB about how VBAC friendly she really is...or isn't. My local hospital and OB just started allowing VBACs about a month ago. The OB came from somewhere else that did them and the hospital did them 10 years ago, but stopped for a while. Anyway...I have a back up plan to where I can travel 30 minutes out of state to a midwife/OB office that has been doing them for years and was recommended to me by the local ICAN leader. I have a feeling I will end up there, but I would really love to stay local and deliver in the same hospital as I did last time. It is where I am more comfortable. My mom has been working there for 30 years, so everyone knows me...it is nice.
I only ended up with a c-section last time b/c my son was breech and it wasn't any kind of an emercengy situation. I plan on TTC around next April, but want to have a practice set up already.
So,I have been doing lots of research on asking the right questions and what red flags I should look out for when finding a VBAC friendly DR. However, I would love to here from actual experience. I've got a list already made up, but if you ladies could help me out to make sure I know I got everything covered...that would be great!!
*I am wanting a med-free VBAC...not ruling out the possibility of wanting the epidural once there or having them run a line w/o meds...just in case.
TIA! :-)
Re: Help me find the right questions to ask my OB?
Ty! Yes, I plan on hiring a doula. Never even thought about asking them for recommendations though. Great idea...thanks again!
