Two Under 2

Triple stroller or make her walk? or sit and stand?

When #3 is born, DD will be 3.5, but will be almost 4 when it's warm enough to use a stroller for the zoo, etc.

We currently have a good double stroller.

Would you recommend I buy a double sit & stand, or just keep what we have and make her walk?

TIA. Posting and running but I'll check back.....

We have a double stroller and bought a buggy board to attach to the back.  It works ok - mostly I have DS walk but if we are going a long distance he hitches a ride.  I have also worn the baby and pushed both big kids in the stroller - but DS is getting big for it, and doesn't like being in it anymore.  Unfortunately this means that DD#1 doesn't want to be in it anymore either, but I can't have them both walking - that is a recipe for disaster!

  • I'll have 3u3 (due this month) and we plan to stick with the double.  We got a baby carrier that one of us can wear, and the 2 big ones can ride in the stroller.  My 2 year old already prefers to ask to walk, so I can't see her putting up with being in a stroller much longer.  If we are going on a family trip or something with a lot of walking, we can just take 2 strollers.
  • Honestly, I would just bring a baby carrier and if there is ever a time your 4 year old needs to rest in the stroller I would wear your newborn.

My DD is almost 4 and she RARELY rides in a stroller.  I am pregnant with #3 too.  I have a BOB Duallie and plan on just relying on that for when we are out and about.  I will bring my Ergo and keep it in the basket underneath.  If the "perfect storm" happens and my 4, 3, and newborn all need to be resting then I will wear #3 and put my older 2 in the stroller.

  • I agree with wearing the younger one if the older one really needs to sit. And I didn't catch it, but how old is the second one? They will probably want to walk a bit themselves.

  • Thank you ladies!  Good advice.

PP:  DS will be 22 months when #3 is born,  so 2 years 3 months or so when it's warm enough to go places where strollers are needed.

I guess my fear is being say, at the zoo (our zoo here has crazy steep hills) and having to baby-wear and push a double stroller at the end of the day because DD's feet are tired. Sounds like a stellar time for me...lol

I guess we'll just play it by ear, though.

As long as your double stroller is good quality you should be fine.  My kids are both between 32 and 35 pounds, my Duallie is 30 pounds.  That is almost 100 pounds and it pushes very easily.  Even on hills.

Just consider it a post-baby workout.  It simply wouldn't happen enough to warrant getting a separate stroller for that possibility.

This, except we have a city select and a city elite double.  Both can handle 100 pounds without a problem... I'm not much of a "baby wearer" though, so I'd just make my older one walk if we were somewhere that had steep hills.

DS1 walks. He turned 3 the week before ds3 was born last year and he knows he has to walk. The only time he can ride is at Disney World. We rent a double and bring our single.
