So, we found out Saturday that we're having a BOY. Since our family and friends are far away, I decided to bake and send out gender reveal cookies. The first recipe I found on Pinterest called for chocolate chip cookies to be stuffed with cake balls, which had to be baked and frozen separately, and there was molten chocolate involved, and it sounded like a bunch of work I was not up to. So I found another recipe that allowed you to stuff cookies with a piece of blue or pink Wilton vanilla melts, making the inside sort of melted candy-like. Perfect, right? So I set out baking my chocolate chip cookies with the melts inside. The first two dozen or so turned out fine, but later, the blue started to show through the bottom of the cookies. I spent hours writing little poems and decorating these adorable green and yellow glittery boxes for them. Packaging and shipping will cost a fortune. The project's over now so I don't need any baking advice, I'm just so frustrated! I thought about icing them and making little sandwiches to hide the blue but I don't feel like going out to get icing stuff at 10:30pm! And so I can only put like three cookies in each box! UGH! If only the recipients cared as much about this as I do.

I assure you, they do not. Cute idea, but yeah...not worth the effort.
That's a bummer. It is a cute idea!! I'm sure they will be thrilled just to get something yummy, and I would add the ones that leaked. Even if they can see the blue, it will still be a surprise when they open the box! Maybe you can put those on the bottom of the box. I love when friends and family let us share in their special moments, so I assure you that at least some of your family will be just as excited!
Congrats too!!
What a lovely idea. I hope they appreciate all the effort you went to! I'm from Ireland (moving to the states soon) I have one monkey already but just found out that I'm expecting
I'll be sad to be so far away from family and friends when the baby is due so I can understand why you're going to such a great effort to keep all the family included.
Very thoughtful and incredibly sweet
I'm convinced that Pinterest is just a collection of shared delusions. I don't believe for a second that any non-professional has created and photographed anything on there.
It was a cute idea, and I'm sure your family will be excited for you
