Colposcopy today and question

I have my Colposcopy today and I'm just nervous about how it is going to be. DH couldn't get off work and I hate going by myself. I am also freaking out because I did not realize I should have called the insurance before today to check on pre authorization. My stupidity at not reading all the paperwork so now I'm waiting until insurance opens at 8 to call them.

For those of you that had it done, does it matter if you are in your period? After my second month of chlomid and missed my mid cycle monitoring due to work, I don't think I ovulated or I had a surprise 8 day LP. I think stress is just messing with me. So now my period was a week early. Does that matter?

I just want to get thru this so I can start with a new RE. Thanks in advance.

It does matter. Menstrual blood can interfere with the testing results.

I would call the office this morning and let them know and see what they say. The MD might just want you to still come in and just look at the cervix without taking a biopsy.

I have had a few and they are nothing to be nervous about...they feel like a pap and hopefully you get good results from it!

You shouldn't be on your period though, because the doctor will have difficulty seeing your cervix.

Thanks, you were right. Not bad at all and doctor did not see anything to be concerned about. So yay.
