Last week Updates:

Congratulations to komurphy who gave birth to DS-he was 31 weeks exactly and weighed 3lbs. 9oz. After a couple of weeks in the hospital, she started to bleed and drs discovered that she was fully dilated with bulging membranes. Because of the threat of the prolapsed cord, they decided to do an emergency CS. She reports that DS is doing well in the NICU. Please keep her and LO in your thoughts and prayers for a short and uneventful NICU stay. komurphy-please keep us updated on how he is doing.

CurlingRocks: had AS and have to do a follow up on the heart since LO was not cooperating with that part; Team Green! Also felt outside kicks for the first time!

adamnkel: appt was on Monday-how did it go?

TriciaandSean: passed last pg milestone! She only has 1 more progesterone shot to go and 2 more weeks before reaching FT status!

sdtchica13: also passed last pg milestone! shots are working and cervix is behaving. Next big milestone is 32 weeks!

Mommy 2CB: has reached 35 weeks and will have last NST. So close to being FT! Way to go!

tlk432: appts with OB and MFM went well and LO measured right on track for 30 weeks at 3lbs.2oz!

Re: Pregnant & TTC Check In 5/09/13

  • Had my first appts with OB and MFM in a little over 4 weeks on Monday so I was really nervous about what they were going to find out. US revealed that everything was ok and LO is measuring 4lbs. 1oz! I was so excited-that is double DS's birth weight when he was born. GD is still diet controlled and numbers are staying pretty low. However, OB was a little concerned that I didn't gain weight from the last time I was there. I told her that I lost over 5lbs. in the first week of the GD diet and have since gained it back. I am also eating as much as I can. She said I have to eat more protein which I am completely fine with, but I just don't know how I can fit any more food in me since I feel like I am full all day long. Lol!

  • I just had my last progesterone shot ever!  I can't believe I'm at 36 weeks (well in 2 days).  Baby is looking good.  I thought baby had dropped because I have so much extra pressure but it looks like although the baby is head down it's still floating and not down low in my pelvis.  As my doctor said you've never carried this big of a baby, I guess the pressure is just going to get worse as the baby grows and when the baby finally does drop.

I am about 1 cm dilated, but I know at this point that doesn't mean much, I'm past the scary stage.  My guess is that baby will be here Memorial Day weekend just because my son was right around Labor Day weekend.  Either that or the baby will be late just to mess with me.

I hope everyone else had a good week.

  • Good news here! Had my cervical u/s this morning and my cervix is still stable at 31 weeks! In fact, this morning it didn't even shorten when pressure was applied and my tech told me my cervix was gorgeous, lol! I also had an FFN test again and just got a call that it was negative, so one less thing to worry about. I have now officially "graduated" from MFM and do not need to go back until a growth u/s at 36 weeks!

Otherwise, little dude is looking good in there, and was estimated at 3lbs, 11oz today, so perfectly average size wise...lets keep him that way so I can get my VBAC!

  • We had our fetal echo today and everything looks great.  LO is only measuring a week ahead right now, opposed to her brother who was 2 weeks ahead at this gestation.  Hopefully she has plans for a later arrival too!   Still on p17 of course and doing cervical checks every 2 weeks...length has been a little shorter each check but still nice and long at 4.7 so no worries there.

Glad to see all positive updates this week!  Way to go everyone!

I'm fine, but I'm crazy exhausted.  And it seems to cycle the 2 days following my P17 shots are totally exhausting, and then I regain my energy until my next shot.  Anyone else have this symptom?

You know, now that you mention it, I felt like Tuesday and Wednesday dragged hardcore for me (I do my shots Monday night) and today felt like I had more energy...I need to see next week if that's the case as well!

  • Glad to see all of the positive updates. My dr appointment went well on Monday. The baby is measuring on track and my BP was good. I also got a note from my dr to go on a weekend cruise out of NYC. The cruise line requires a note for anyone that is pregnant stating they can travel. We leave tomorrow morning and come back on Sunday.

    I think I've noticed I get grumpy/blue/lazy for a day or 2 after mine.

I was able to speak with MFM doc about my cerclage this week.  Long story short, it looks like my chance of a successful VBAC are 50/50 only.  Apparently my kiddo got stuck in my pelvis and that's why I didn't dilate and had to have the csection, and with a full term, presumably larger baby, this quite possibly could happen again.  So after having to have a surgical procedure to remove the cerclage, and a 50% chance of having another csection anyways, I'm 95% sure I'm just going to have an RCS and leave the cerclage in.  I feel very calm about this decision, and after the roller-coaster this pregnancy has been, I think a "calm" birth will be a good ending for us.  But I reserve the right to change my mind again!

    Have a nice weekend!

  • Hi,

Sorry for the late update. First I wanted to say thanks to everyone here for the positive thoughts and support these last few months. It means a lot.

Second, a quick update on our son. He is currently doing very well. He had a rough first week and a half due to some intestinal infections and blockages. I think I was more scared then anything since the memory of my daughters NEC battle are still fresh.  It looks like he may be a feeder grower at this point (fingers crossed).

We are at the same NICU my twins were at for 77 days. A lot of the same nurses and specialists are still there and they all come over every day to check in on us and to ask about my twins. He even has the same doctor as my twins and she recognized us as soon as we walked in. She remembered the details of my twins case. I guess if their is any silver lining to being a mom to 3 preemies its that. We love our NICU and doctors/ nurses.

Lastly, after a full week we finally named our little guy. The 3 names we had picked out just didn't fit him. They were short and cute and we decided that after all our guy went through he needed a name that reflected his strong will. We decided to name him after my grandfather, Glenn, who was the most stubborn man we knew. Any baby who can stay cooking from 23 weeks to 31 weeks with little to no cervix to hold him in has got to be stubborn.

Also, I am happy to read all the positive updates this week.

    Mom to three beautiful preemies:

Lily born at 27 wks: 2 lbs 4 oz.
Max born at 27 wks: 2 lbs 2 oz.
Glenn born at 31 wks: 3 lbs 9 oz.

    My twin's birth story

I am so glad to hear that baby Glenn is doing well after a rough start. I agree that he is definitely a strong (and stubborn) baby to stay in for 8 weeks. We are are all rooting for him to stay strong and go home with you guys soon.

He said if I were to go into labor that at this point they would NOT stop it and that LO should not need a NICU stay. Of course I'd love to make it at least 1 more week to be "term" at 37wks but I feel really great about all of that news. So excited!
