I use playtex Ventaire bottles. They worked great for us. Not many pieces (Dr. Browns have a lot of pieces to wash) and we never had a huge problem with gas.

I keep reading that the baby will let you know if they like the bottle of not. I put small packs of Dr. Brown, Avent, and Tommy Tippee to try out on my registry. I prefer the Avent one since the pump I'll be using is Avent, but if baby doesn't like it then I have 2 others to chose from.

I'm a FTM but we chose to go with Tommy Tippee bottles. We chose them because other moms told me it helped their baby transition between BFing and bottle feeding easier. I don't know what my baby will think of it though!
I have 3 kinds of bottles to try. Playtex dropins, tomee tippee, and como tomo. Whichever one he takes to the best, we will use. I have 2 of each right now.
Start with either the cheapest or easiest to wash option that you're considering (decide which is more important to you!) If baby is refusing or has reflux or major gas issues, consider switching to a more complicated bottle like the Dr Brown's. No way I'd start with those and wash all those pieces if I didn't have to!
We breastfed for 13 months and had great luck with Tommee Tippee, but they were the first thing we tried, maybe my girl's just not picky

This is the advice I got from another mom friend. We registered for Avent Naturals and will only buy a few to start to see how they work.
My first didn't care. I BFd for the first two months, but ended up formula feeding because of complications. I started out with Playtex drop ins just because they were easy and I didn't have to wash them as vigorously. We eventually moved to Avent because my SIL had given me some old 4oz bottles from her daughter, so I had all the parts I just had to buy the teats.
I was lucky in that my daughter didn't care so long as the food was coming at her.
We used the Dr. Brown's bottles with DD and loved them. I didn't find it a big deal to wash the extra parts, but DD was also BF and only took bottles at daycare so maybe if I was washing more frequently I'd have a different opinion. We started with the Medela bottles and found them to leak for us, so I'd stay away from those.
With my first we used Playtex dropins because it was easy to transition from breast feeding and bottle feeding. Playtex has nipples for the bottles that are similar to a breast so its easier for baby to take both. I stress DO NOT use Dr. Brown bottles if you will be nursing. The nipples are so narrow LO would not latch on because she was not use to opening her mouth wide enough to nurse so it was very difficult.

This is dependent on the baby just like anything else. DD had no problem going between nursing and using Dr. Brown's botttles at daycare.
We are deciding between those too as well. My cousin advised me to register for both sets, and get a few single bottles. Once the baby comes, we will see which one our LO like and take back the set that they don't like. That way we are not suck with a whole bunch of bottles that our baby wont use. I thought that was handy advice.

Ditto PP--I think this is more of a baby decision than anyone else.
Having said that, I've gotten 2 free Avent Naturals and a Tommee Tippee bottle and we'll go from there.
