Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Mother's Day was not what I expected...to my daughter

This really isn't for anyone but my sweet girl.  But I thought I would share my thoughts with you and wish you all a Happy Mother's Day.

I have been looking forward to today for months.  Maybe even a year.  My daughter is here.  I am fortunate.  There were about 6 months last years that her impending birth and my future health were very touch and go, to say the least.  In all honesty, other than my very sweet doctor, my mother is the main reason she is here because she took 24 hour care of me for months.  My husband wasn't neglectful.  He was away being trained to serve our country.  A very honorable task.  My Dad ran our family business and my brother moved in and took care of my house. I moved back to my parents.  A support system, that if i had not had, she mostly likely would not be here.

I woke up this morning still sick after one full round of antibiotics and several days.  My husband has also caught this illness.  Our daughter is the only healthy one in the bunch.  Initially, I had great disappointment.  We had beautiful matching mother/daughter dresses for church this morning that I have saved for two months.  In the afternoon, a trip to the zoo was planned, and a nice dinner with my very small, but perfect for us family.   Instead, we went to the doctor, came home, stayed in our pajamas, and ate leftovers.  Definitely, not what I expected.  But you know, it turned out nice.  This morning plans fell apart, but I still spent the day holding my daughter and watching her play.  Our dresses can wait until next week and we can celebrate when perhaps, it is less crowded.  As she is peering at my now, looking over her crib (feeling very proud of herself I'm sure), I realized.  It was still perfect because she is here and when I look into her beautiful face I see myself.  Really, I suppose the other things don't matters so much after all.

I love you sweet girl.

  • Very sweet. We didn't do anything extravagant or fancy yesterday, but it was still a wonderful day. Glad you enjoyed yours!
