Natural Birth

I finally made the switch

I've been debating switching from my OB to a more natural friendly MW for a couple months now. At my last OB apt when the lady told me they can't delay cord clamping because "the cord isn't that long and they would have to hold the baby down there" it was the last straw. Not to mention she looked at me like I had 4 heads when I asked the question to begin with.
Today we went for a welcome tour of a MW birthing center and I am so thrilled I found this place! I still plan to have a hospital birth,..DH and I are just more comfortable there just in case something goes wrong, but the mw's will be the ones attending our labor. I haven't had my first official appointment yet, but just from the way she approached our questions and concerns today I already feel 1000 better and more comfortable with this place.
I want to thank you all for the advice you have given me and that I've read on other threads. I probably would have just sucked it up with the OB if not for reading some of the things on this board. I'm a happier and more at ease mamma already. Can't wait to start Bradley classes on Thursday!

  • Congrats! I have been seeing a MW practice since the beginning but a couple of weeks ago I need to see a GYN for some problems and it was not as nice. Drs are good when you have a medical condition but this is not! :D

Now I came back to my MW and I'm super happy and at ease! I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy :)

That sounds great! I'm glad you found an option you're happier with. I switched to midwives early in my pregnancy because I didn't like the OBs I was seeing, and have been really happy with them. We're having a hospital birth too.

  • Congrats! I switched from an OB to a midwife at 33 weeks. It's never too late to get the delivery you want.
