  My sister's name is Mia, so I tend to prefer that one. People who meet her for the first time call her Mya all the time though.

  I love Mia (mee-ah) but it's too similar to Sophia. 

   

  I believe that's correct about the pronunciation. I like them both, but prefer Mia.

  That's how I would pronouce both.  Love my Mia but people have called her "my-ah" before (even family) LOL!

  Yes.  Mia = mee-uh.and Mya = Maya.  I like the Maya spelling better.

  I hate Mya, love Maya (for My-ah) and also Love Mia (for me-ah)

  both are super cute.

  is sophia a Sophie? cause Mia sounds fine with Sophie...even with Sophia, really.

  One of our dogs is named Mia (like you pronounced).  MH is still pissed we used up that name on a dog b/c he really wanted to use it for a girl.  A friend of ours told us the same thing; that they loved the name, but couldn't use it b/c it reminded them of our dog.
