Husbands who COACH

So my husband is kindly supporting, willing and able to coach me through the natural birth I am planning in August. We are starting natural birth classes on Monday. Any books, resources, recommendations for my guy that helped your husband or SO??? I'm sure we will learn alot in the classes but for those who've been there, done thatI am interested of your advice. Thx!

    I didn't expect much from my husband during labor, but he was awesome- and I know I owe that to the workbook 100%

    We took the Bradley class and it  was great.  It taught my H how to understand where I was in labor and what he could do to help.  My H was a rock star in early labor.  However we also had a doula. The doula was worth it.  I freaked out some in transition and the pushing stage because my body was pushing but I wasn't completely dilated yet.  My H kind of zoned out and let me scream/freak out.  My doula kept me calm and helped me breathe through contractions without pushing.   My H was prepared for labor but it was new to him to. I highly recommend having an additional support person to help your H out especially if you have a long labor.

    We didn't do Bradley classes, but I did read a couple bradley books (as well as Ina May Gaskin stuff). The best book for my husband was "Natural Childbirth the Bradley way" by Susan McCutcheon. We did all the exercises together and he made flash cards as well. We had a wonderful husband-coached birth for DD and look forward to another with this LO. Good luck!

    Bradley method helped us. I would not have made it without my husband. Ina May's guide to natural childbirth is helpful too, its a bunch of little stories helps you to kerp in the mind frame that each story is different. Good luck!!!
