That kind if stuff doesn't bother me. It's freaking paint, don't most people repaint the whole house anyway?! That said, I realize many people can't look past the paint, so, I'd probably suck it up and paint.
This! And I like the idea of painting the bottom tan to match the top.

I agree about painting the bottom a more neutral color. Red is just such a bold color - you don't that to be the ONE thing that potential buyers remember about the house since it's not a main part of the house. When we househunt, DH and I nickname houses - "the blue kitchen" or "the good view" or "the big living room." So, if there are good, strong features in the rest of your house to balance it out, then you could probably leave it. But if there isn't at least one other dominant feature, it might end up being "the red bedroom" house for potential buyers. Does that make sense?

We'd be "the big @$$ kitchen." Seriously... this thing is MONSTROUS for a tract home. I love our house... it's just in the wrong city and it doesn't have a pool, nor do I want to put one in.
I will repaint the bottom half of the room a softer
eutral color.
Thanks, ladies.
Lala, at this point in the market, we have only one house in our city that is on our comparables list. Just one. It's so competitive out there right now, that our floor plan around the corner just listed at $250K and got a $270K offer. It listed on Thursday and offer was accepted the following Monday. We're hoping that things will move quickly. The agents we've spoken to say that listings aren't staying on the market longer than 14 days. I hope we're one of 'em. ::fingers crossed::
I wouldn't paint. We left the crazy polka dots on DD's wall at the old house and the buyers said they were going to leave them up since they were expecting a little girl.
What scared me from many homes was the psycho amount of wallpaper everywhere.
For real. Paint is no biggie. But wallpaper? Thatabitch, yo.
I would say paint it the red, tan. However, it sounds like it might not matter and your house will sell fast. Maybe hold off on painting and if you get a lot of comments on it or your house doesn't sell in a month or two, paint it.

Re: Be a potential buyer for me...
Yes. It all matches including the ceiling fan.
It's Hank's room, and a bit of a disaster right now, so it would absolutely take away from the paint question.
I think you're right. The red is a bit much. I mean, it's barn door red.
I hadn't really thought about keeping the stripes and going with a more neutral color on bottom. Thanks, Bncha.

+1
Though I am not sure I would bother to paint...
