No Breast Growth

Hey...me again, with the same topic from a few months ago...only this time I am 37 weeks! My breast STILL have not grown. I am still an A cup wearing my same bras that I've always had. They are a little swollen but that's about it.
Anyway, I know that our milk doesn't come in until several days post delivery and I know all we have is colostrum right now but I feel like I don't even have that! There is no sign of anything being in there at all. I tried squeezing my aereola, as I read that sometimes you'll see a trickle of colostrum but nothing came out. I also read that that trick doesn't always work but I had to try lol.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Everyone's body is different.nbsp; I have very large breasts normally but they don't grow much during pregnancy.nbsp; And if I squeeze I can get one tiny drop the size of the top of a pin out of one side, nothing out of the other.nbsp; That's it, no leaking, nothing.nbsp; It was the same with DS and I BFed him just fine.
    Relax :.

Thanks, I think I'm more concerned because no one I know has kept their cup size through the end of their pregnancy but I know you're right, we're all different. As long as I can feed Baby Girl, I will be happy.

  • It depends. No breast growth can be a sign of Insufficient Growth Tissue, and it might not be possible to BF. Or, it might be totally fine. If you'd like, schedule a prenatal appointment with an LC to talk about your concerns and your options.

I asked my OB and they said the statistic of not being able to BF is only like 2 or something really low like that. I hope that's not me but thanks for the advise on talking to a LC, I appreciate it.

My breasts didn't grow at all with DS until my milk came in.   I also didn't have any leaking before I had him.  I didn't have any sort of supply issues when it came to BFing.  The same thing has happened this pregnancy - no breast size increase, no leaking.

    I wouldn't worry.

Is this your first? Also, are you naturally a smaller cup size or larger?

My boobs didn't grow at all before having DD and breastfed her til 18 months just fine. My milk came in full force the day I had her.

    Thank you.

  • My breasts didn't change at all when I was pregnant with my first.  I was an A cup throughout pregnancy.  That changed about 2 days after DD was born.  Try not to worry.  I'm sure its normal.

Thank you, it's nice to read that others had no growth until post birth.

  • I haven't had any leakage what so ever and my boobs are huge!

... anyway my point is that everyone is different. I don't think its cause for concern right now.

Yeah...mine are barely bigger... just a fuller cup but all my old bras still fit. No leaking or anything like that either. My doc says it's normal....everyone is different. All that matters is what happens after the baby is born.

  • I have had no breast growth. They are denser but I can still wear the same bras. I do 'leak'. As others have said, everyone is different.

ETA: By leak I mean I end up with 'crust' in my bra. It is by no means a trickle. More like an extremely slow ooze.

I'm a C cup and I am a FTM. Just to cover questions you have asked some PPs.

  • I never had breast growth when I was pregnant with my son and he got breast milk until he was about 19 months. I haven't grown at all with this pregnancy either.

  • I'm still in my A cup bras.  I think I might fill them out a little bit better now, but I haven't had an appreciable change in breast size either.  The change in size has mostly been my ribcage expanding!

I'm not too worried about it, as according to the La Leche League book, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, my breasts don't fall under a category of those with potential difficulties (due to insufficient breast tissue) - so maybe you can try looking there to put your mind at ease a little?

  • Thank you Everyone. I appreciate everyone's feedback. I'm sure my body will do what it needs to do when the time comes. I just wanted to get an idea if I was alone or not. Thanks again!

Yes it's my first. And I am a small C.

This is the same for me - my boobs didn't increase until the day Skippy was born, and I breastfed him for 18 months, and I hyperlactated. I made enough milk for 3 babies.

I was small before my first, an A cup as well. I had no growth until after my milk came in and even then I was not big. I breastfed my son for 2 years just fine. I never had a supply issue or a problem nursing.

I was slightly bigger with my second but again, I didn't go up in size until after my milk came in.

  • With DS my breasts never grew during pregnancy and I EBF for a year. I wouldn't worry.

  • With my first my boobs got huge and I leaked colostrum a lot but then I never produced enough milk to feed a growing boy. I would only ever get an ounce at the most and I would have to wait 4 hours in between to get that. If I tried every hour I only got a half ounce. I tried EVERYTHING. So long story short... Just because your boobs grow doesn't mean you will be able to bf. hopefully this time my body will work properly lol
