Brand new, and nervous!

Hi, wasn't sure which threads would really apply to me so I'm starting here, and thought I'd share my story.

My husband and I had tried to get pregnant since we got married, 4 years ago. It wasn't happening and we thought maybe there was something wrong with him. He was tested and was fine, so I was tested. Turns out it was me. My eggs were not viable at all. He has a son from a previous marriage (he has sole physical custody, so he's with us all the time and has become "my" son, I love him like he is. He'll be 15) To make a very long story shorter, we decided to go with an egg donor. Found one and started the process, then found out my hubby is a carrier for Cystic Fibrosis, so last minute we found a sperm donor. We know the complete medical background of both donors, felt comfortable (albeit stressed) with that decision. Anyway, we figured we'd give IVF one shot. There were 2 embryo's that were is 'excellent' condition as the doctor put it, so we had them both implanted to give us a better shot at one of them surviving.

This last weekend I woke up at 2am with excruciating stomach cramps and violent vomiting. Not 'morning sickness' vomiting...this was different. I went to the ER where they ran a bunch of tests then did an ultrasound of my liver, kidneys, spleen, etc. The technician asked if we'd had an ultrasound of the pregnancy yet and I said no, that it's scheduled for the 15th. She said if I wanted she could check that as well, to make sure that everything is ok there. I said "yes please" and she looked. We saw 2 heartbeats!! We are so ecstatic! Of course, a little shell shocked, but too we were a little prepared knowing that they did implant 2 embryo's. We have only told a select few that I'm actually pregnant (bosses and my brother) and only our bosses know right now that it's twins because we have a neat plan to tell everyone that we're pregnant with twins.

Ok, there's my extremely shortened story. Oh, and our 14 yr old son? He's been giggling ever since we told him. He can't wait to meet them!
