Going back to work next Monday/Intro

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to introduce myself. I am going back to work next Monday after being a SAHM for almost 5 years. I have an almost 5 yr old and an 11 month old. My older DS is finishing his last few weeks of Pre-K and then will go to the same daycare as the baby for the summer.

I feel pretty emotional about leaving them but got a great job opportunity so if I can just get myself past the first week, all will be ok. I hope the baby adjusts quickly and adapts to napping at DC. We are doing a trial day where I stay with him and his teacher in the room for 1/2 a day the Friday before he starts.

I know my older one will enjoy the day with his new friends and I am sure DS#2 will too, but it's a long day for them when they are not used to it. I am sure this will all be much harder on me than them. Luckily DH's schedule will be a little more flexible than mine will be at first so he will be able to go pick them up earlier than I can get there some days.

Look forward to chatting with you all.

  • Don't worry, they'll be fine, as long as their in a place you trust. Kids adjust very quickly to daycare surroundings. It's difficult to let go, but you have to in order maintain your sanity and be focused at work. I've never been a SAHM but I enjoy dropping my son off, because I feel like I'm getting a break and my son loves his preschool. I'm expecting baby #2 in 42 days (or sooner) and I know initially it will be difficult leaving him at the daycare at 8 weeks, but I gotta go back to work, and I have faith that he will be in good hands, as my 4 year old is.
