work from home?

I have an opportunity to work from home but my pay would be based off referrals so I'm wondering if its worth it. I want to be the go getter type that refers customers to something but I am an awful salesperson! Anyone done anything like this and been successful?

Re: work from home?

  • I have dabbled in this before but it's not for me.  You have to be comfortable using your own friends and family to get started, asking them to buy X from you and give you names of their friends/family so you can do the same with them.  Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure it depends specifically on your network.

  • That's exactly the type of network it would be and I'm not comfortable with it either. I decided not to do it. even though i known its not for me, im kind of sad that its mot. I'm just trying to find something that will give us a hundred or so extra a month. I've thought a about a home daycare but that's not really my thing either. Im all out of ideas.

I am an RN and I do admissions assessments for a hospital.  I mainly work weekends, but they often ask if I want projects during the week.  While I love the extra money, I have a really hard time getting anything accomplished with Nolan. He plays really well independently until I get my work computer out!  If I were to pay for childcare during the week, I wouldn't make enough money to justify working (DH watches Nolan when I work weekends).

  • Are you crafty at all?  Ever thought about doing something like Etsy or some other online shop type thing?

  • I tried etsy and no one bought my stuff ::mobile frowns face:: I've seen things for customer service reps I'm thinking about looking into that.
  • Are you crafty at all? Knitting? Sewing? I have friends who are SAHM's who make a bit of money doing that on etsy and selling just through word of mouth and Facebook. There's also money to be had in cloth diaper conversion (changing over velcro to snaps)... Sorry, that's all I got!

  • Thanks for your ideas ladies, I a appreciate the help!
