I'm posting for a GF who needs to homeschool her seventh grader. He will be doing a lot of work on his own since his parents both work but his dad works from home so he will have him around most of the day if needed and his mom usually has a day off once a week and can devote that day to him. She is looking into one of the local co ops but was wondering if there is a site that helps narrow down what method might be better for each particular child. Also if anyone can rec a good program for a more independent study approach. (I'm curious also since we may be taking DS out of traditional school depending on how next year goes). Thanks!
Re: middle school homeschooling?
Exactly. When I homeschooled ds1 for the second half of his 7th grade year I could not give him an assignment and expect it to be done when I returned from my own college class 90 minutes later.
Then again, due to some of the trauma ds1 had been through in the years prior to his 7th grade year, the only way he was able to do his homeschooling was if either myself or my mom sat on the sofa or at the table with him. We didn't have to help him so much with the work as much as just keep reminding him where he was in the lesson and keep him on task and to some extent our presence was also a security item for him still at that point.
