Adoption

intro

HI everyone!  Long time lurker..

DH and I have been TTC for 3 years now...history in sig.  We are excited to be moving onto adoption.  We always said we would adopt, even if we were able to have biological children.  I was adopted when I was 6 months old from South Korea, I had three older brothers who were not adopted.

I have been researching agencies since we started IVF attempt #2.  We hadn't been to any informational meetings, but are ready to start.  We would like to select an agency by the end of the month and are working on getting the house prepped for the home study step.

Just wanted to say "hi!" and hoping to be active and participate.

  • Hi Niki - welcome to the board.  We started researching agencies before we started IVF #1.  After we tried our 3rd IVF, we knew which agency we would use.  I would definitely start with a couple of informational meetings or meetings with directors to get a feel for a couple of agencies.  Then you can go from there.

    Best of luck to you!

  • Welcome to the board! I'm sorry for your journey of loss that brought you to this point, but wish you the best as you pursue adoption!
I'm a dance studio owner, writer, cat mommy, and adventuress who is married to the man of her dreams. My husband and I have had a long-time dream to adopt and it's happening in a way that we didn't quite anticipate. But, like any move of God, it's turning out way better than we expected. We'd love for you to follow our story at www.kirstenkline.com!
  • Hi, and welcome to the board! Best of luck to you in your journey.
  • My name is Carla. My husband John and I have been married for almost 8 years now. We have been ttc for 5 of those years with no success. Last summer I tried IVF for the first time which resulted in a BFN. We were both heart broken and needed to know what our by Coupon Companion">next step would be. I have always wanted to adopt but my husband was a little apprehensive at first. I have been one of those women that tried to keep it together all the time and then after a specific event happened, my emotionally strong wall came tumbling down around me. We knew we had to make a decision and our time to make it had come. ADOPTION is what we decided on. I am of Guatemalan heritage, plus I was born there and still carry Guatemalan citizenship. I knew I wanted a baby from Guatemala. So that is what we are going to do this summer. If all goes well we will have a child by the end of the summer which doesn't give us a lot of time to prepare at all. Plus being new parents for the first time, we REALLY don't know how to prepare. Family and friends are being incredibly supportive and we can't wait to start our new little family.
