Babies: 3 - 6 Months

When did you put baby in excersaucer?

Little guy is almost 5 months and have pretty good head control.  I wanted to give him something new to play with but hesitant if he's too young.  We just got a hand me down one so just wondering what other moms do for their babies.  Thanks.

My DD started playing in her jumperoo this week at 12weeks. Recommended age for these toys is 4 months but as long as they have good head control I'd say go for it

  • Hi,Connor has a jumperoo and we put him in it a few weeks ago. He hasn't quite mastered the jump but we roll a receiving blanket up as extra cushion and he loves hanging out and grabbing at the toys.We do limit the time to about 10-15 minutes though. I say try it,he will let you know if he is ready or not :)

  • We just put DD2 in the exersaucer last weekend.  She did great and loved it!

  • Around 3-4 months.  DD loves her exersaucer! :-)

  • We put her in about 3.5 months....she's 4 months now. She's got good head control but she only lasts about 10 or so minutes in it. Maybe a bit longer. I think she will like it more and more as she gets older.
  • We started using the jumperoo around 12 weeks, with a blanket wrapped around her belly for extra trunk control.  She loved to be upright but didn't really "play" in it.  She became interested in the toys around 4 months, and just turned in to a little jumping bean last week (around 5 months) - she gets so excited now that she realizes her legs can do things haha!

I just checked my list of milestone stuff and DD started using her jumperoo 2 days after she turned 3 months old, and she actually started jumping in it a day before she turned 4 months old. She started playing with the toys a couple weeks before that. Now at 20 weeks, she LOVES it. Its actually hard to get her to stop jumping at times now, and I have to limit her to twice a day for 15-20 minutes. As long as your LO has good head control 5 months should definitely be old enough. DD also sits in her little walker thing and plays with the toys on it while I'm making dinner. She won't be able to use the walker for months yet, but its a great little play seat for her as it isn't a dangle seat and has a little tray I can put loose toys on.

Almost this exactly.  We put DD in it early but just as a seat because she LOVED sitting upright.... if she was awake, she refused to be cradle held.  She had excellent head/neck control from the get-go so we just propped her up and secured her trunk with towels/blankets and she just hung out.  I put scrapbooks under her (still have to put one under her now), and slowly she began to push her feet off of them... now she's playing with the toys... just this past week she's getting the hang of grabbing one of the toys and turning her seat herself.  She isn't jumping at all yet but really enjoys being in it.

At around 3.5 months...he stays in it longer and longer the older he gets. He even fell asleep in it the other day.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

    Anniversary

  • DD was 4 months, I have to put a towel behind her because the seat thing is way too big and keep an eye on her but she loves playing the piano and being in the standing position.
  • A hand me down exersaucer was kind of forced on us by a relative (as it was placed in the trunk of our car without us knowing, but that's another story). We put our LO in it when he was a little older than 4 months. He had great head control and wanted to stand all the time anyways so we gave in. He had fun in it for a bit, but we've only used it a couple of times. My mom sent us a jumparoo, and it's pretty much the same. He enjoys it for a bit but we don't leave him in it for long. He's seems more interested in everyday objects like the remote control, picture frames, water bottles, etc. than actual baby toys.
  • We started at 4 months and I helped support her back with blankets rolled up around her and never left her side. Now she's doing great, sitting up on her own, and I can leave her in there to play while I cook dinner.

We put DD in around 3.5 months.   We put blankets around her and she would just look at us.  Now we still put blankets around her but she was in it for at least a half hour the other day playing with all the toys.  She has one at my parents as well.  Once in a while she will try sucking on the seat part, pull her head back and then when going in to suck on it again hit her nose and get up set.  She loves it so much we are taking on vacation with us!!!

My guy has awesome head control and is now ok in the exersaucer at 4.5 months. I do stuff a blanket in front of him for a little extra trunk support.
