I've not actually seen the Soleil in person yet but based on the specs and what I know about carriers...The Gemini you will be able to use from birth with no insert. The Soleil is larger bodied (the gemini is very small bodied) which means it will fit baby longer but it also means you'll need an insert - and baby won't be legs out in it at first (which may or may not be an issue; I don't care for legs in and many babies don't like it either before they are large enough to go legs out). I don't think the Soleil offers a FF position like the Gemini does (but don't quote me on that). IMO, that's a good thing as I think FF is awkward even when baby is correctly supported and it's not as comfy for the wearer.
If I were choosing just between those two, I'd get the Soleil - and get another carrier like a wrap or ring sling to use for the newborn phase to skip the insert.

Thanks ncbelle!
Are there any recommended ring slings? Just looking for typical brands from the board!
