Full disclosure: I'm a huge hypochondriac. I think I'm dying over every little ache and pain.
Well, I've had this head ache for over 3 weeks now with dizzy spells and blurred vision. I went to the doctor last week and she went through all these tests (tested reflexes, had me touch her finger then my nose, etc) and said it's most likely not a brain tumor and she also ruled out migraines. So, she thought it could possibly be tension head aches because I've been getting pain in my neck. She prescribed a pain killer and some muscle relaxers for 10 days and told me to call if it doesn't go away. Well, 10 days later it still hasn't gone away. Now she wants me to go for a CT scan next week. She hasn't mentioned it, but now I'm panicking, thinking I have an aneurysm or something (thanks to good ol' Dr Google).
Someone talk me off the ledge and tell me I'm just being crazy. I know there's some nurses on here...
Re: Talk some sense into me
I do share your pain with dr google lol. If I sleep on my arm wrong and it starts to hurt I swear I much be having a heart attack! I'm almost tempted to google your symptoms too lol.
It COULD be anything. It PROBABLY is nothing. I am not a doctor or a nurse, or medical professional of any kind.
I do however get raging migraines, tension headaches, etc. I have had CT scans, MRIs nothing wrong with the old noggin just headaches. I have one right now that has been kicking around for a few days. Try not to panic but do advocate for yourself. I would ask for a referral to see a neurologist if you have not done so already. This is their specialty and they will likely order a CT scan or if you have one done next week they will look at those results. I felt very comforted by seeing a neurologist.
Unless your speech is changing, memory functions suddenly impaired, or something else significant outside of just annoying pain, I would wait for your scan and not panic and go to the ER or anything.
Okay so here is what I can share. When I was college I had a head ache much like you are describing for about a month. Finally got some answers from a CT -scan which showed that my left sinus was infected and blocked. So while I'm not saying that whats you have- I'm just saying that it also might not be super serious... Saying prayers for you to get good results from the scan and that you are feeling better soon!

This sounds very much like a sinus headache to me, I am not a doctor either, but I have very sensitive sinus' and every spring and autumn when they pressure changes from cold to hot I get headaches that can last for days/weeks, the pain would be all over my head and sometimes radiating to my shoulders and pulsing over my right eye.
The only thing I have found to work is the Chiropractor, I go in and let them know what is up and they are able to release the pressure buildup.
I would still get the CT scan, but I think it could be worth a going to the chiropractor too, they should be able to help if it is sinus or muscle related.
Diagnosed with Anti little c antibodies. DS1 7.11.11 - Anaemia and Jaundice. 10 days in the NICU, 1 exchange transfusion and 4 blood transfusions. DS2 29.8.13 - Anaemia 7 days in the NICU and 1 exchange transfusion. Both are now happy and healthy.Take a deep breath, it could be just as simple as a boring old sinus or inner ear infection... Both can mess with your balance and your eyes if it's severe enough.
Years ago, I had mega headaches that it had been years since I had a day free of them. I hit a point that I was considering drastic measures if something didn't get figured out as to what/why I was having these things... A friend referred me to a colleague in the ER up the road who sent me in for a head CT. Came back, even though looking at my sinus' with a naked eye he couldn't see it, but on the CT I had an extremely severe sinus infection. Some strong rounds of antibiotics later, I need to go get the broken nose fixed that is likely contributing to them, but now at least I know what's going on when I get headaches to that extent.
My CT scan is scheduled for Thursday. So I just need to stay way from Google until then...
No had no runny nose at all when I had the sinus infection, just the killer headache and definitely included vision and balance problems. Good luck and keep us posted...

No runny nose for me either, although I am always on allergy meds so it could mask the problem.
I also get headaches if my prescription changes aswell, so I would definitely recommend getting your eyes checked out (even if you weren't getting headaches I would recommend it, I think if you haven't got vision problems you are still supposed to go every couple years to make sure everything is OK).
