I didn't want to ferberize him. He's always been a good sleeper, but as of late he had been taking a long time to fall asleep so I would find myself rocking him for about 1 hour. Then, he would wake up several times (3-4) during the night. So, reluctantly, I gave in.
The first night I checked on him about 4 or 5 times as he cried and cried.... but he was asleep in about 30 minutes. He woke up once at 4am to nurse, and slept till 8.
Last night (2nd night), I nursed him and put him in the crib awake.... he turned over and went to sleep. Not a peep. He woke up once to nurse at 5am, then slept till 7:15.
Best sleep I've gotten in a long time!
Lets hope this continues, but I'm so unbelievably surprised!
Re: Sleep Training Success!
I have been agonizing over doing Ferber & we are starting Sunday, I am so damn tired. So good for you, I hope it keeps up & glad to now I'm not doing it alone!
Did you just decided to keep going with the night feed because you know he still needs it? DD gets up a lot in the MOTN & wants to nurse for comfort so I am not sure when to feed her & when to Ferber her.

Congrats, Mama!
I didn't want to Ferberize my LO either, but she was waking 6-8 times per night, and I was a Zombie. I did it out of desperation. By night four, she went down without a peep, and slept from 8pm-7am. Now we are both well rested, and happier people. Consistency is key! I am thrilled for you!
I'll eventually wean the MOTN feeding, but for now, if he is hungry I'll feed him. He's at the 9th percentile because he was born with a heart defect. He had his surgery about 9 weeks ago and he's working on catching up on weight gain. So I want to continue to feed him anytime he wants it. When he does nurse in the motn, it is a full nursing session, so I figured he still needs it.
BTW
Night 3 he cried for about 20 minutes and woke up to nurse at 3:30am then slept till 8
Night 4, he cried for about 3 minutes and slept all the way through till 6:30 am.
Great success.
