What are you hoping for on Mother's Day?

Do you know of your Sunday plans yet? Did your SO plan it or you?  I ask because I'm coming to the realization that if I don't, nothing is going to happen!  (Yes, I'm feeling pretty sad about it right now. Sometimes men can be a real PITA. Ok, done venting.  Thank you for listening.)

  • Sleep. Literally just sleep.

    Ditto.  x 1,000,000.  It's all I really want.

  • For a whole host of reasons, I'm expecting  very little on mother's day.

So in anticipation of this, I got to thinking about gratitude and what mother's day means to me.

I've decided that rather than approaching it as a day when others "should" do something nice for me, I'm going to approach it as a day for me to celebrate.

I LOVE being a Mum, and I am so grateful for my two girls. I'll be home alone with them all day, so I'm going to make it a day of fun and celebration. Not quite sure what we'll be doing yet, but I'm thinking a picnic, maybe some baking, lots of dancing and singing and just really loving being with them.

  • A warm doughnut and a hot cup of coffee. That is all.

I have been wanting it for weeks.

Ideally I would like sleep--but this week my daughter has been sleeping in-and I have been up before her. (I end up getting up around 7:15, she has been sleeping to about 8).

  • We are going to my favorite breakfast/lunch resteraunt (First Watch).  I would love to sleep in but if you don't get there before 10 the wait goes from around 20 minutes to closer to an hour.  After that we might go to the zoo (weather permitting) or I will just veg around the house and read while DH entertains DD.

  • DH is deployed, so I don't expect any sort of break.  When DH is home it doesn't take a special occasion for me to get sleep, girl's nights, spa time, etc.  DH and I are good at balance.

All I really want for Mother's Day is to be together as a family. Next year we will be, I hope.

  • Hanging out with DS in the morning since DH has to work. DH will be home around 11 than heading to my grandmothers for lunch and my MIL's for dinner. Spending the day with family.

  • We don't really make a big deal out of Mother's/Father's day, so I'm not expecting much. I'd like to sleep in and I'd like my floors cleaned. I dream big.

My sisters and I are hosting a brunch for my mom and grandma. Then we'll probably just do something fun as a family in the afternoon. The weather is supposed to be much cooler than it has been lately, so we might go to a museum or indoor park.

  • I'll sleep in, which DH lets me do at least one day each weekend anyway. Maybe have breakfast in bed and not have to cook or clean all day. Other than that, nothing big this year due to finances. Maybe a picture or something from DD and a Starbucks frappuccino. Then we have a BBQ in the park to go to that my sister in law is hosting for mothers day.

  • My mom made our plans. We're getting together with her, my aunt, my two cousins and all of our kids for a BBQ and swimming. Her and my aunt decided the men will cook and clean afterward while us moms hangout and play with the kids. If my mom or i didn't make plans, I'm pretty confident my DH would not have planned anything. As a matter of fact I've bought my own Mother's day gift almost every year.

  • My DH is working nights this week so I'll be at home trying to keep 2 kids quiet so that he can sleep.  I wish I could approach it positively (yay, a whole day with the kids at home) but I'm really dreading it.  Arg.

This would be great! But I'll just take the sleep in part. Breakfast would just be an added bonus.

Since I cannot have what I really want, which would have been for us not to have lost our new baby (miscarried two days ago), I'll take spending time with my DS. He means so much to me especially now.

I would love to sleep in though I doubt that will happen but it's not the biggest deal. I have a feeling DH has nothing planned. He will ask me about 50 times tomorrow what I want to do and I will be frustrated that he can't just decide on his own. I'm also hoping he doesn't cook me breakfast. He will try to clean up after himself but unfortunately wouldn't be very successful.

  • I want to sleep in, but we'll see how that goes.  Otherwise, I just want to hang out with my family.  Everyone is coming over to hang out tomorrow, so it should be fun!

H is working so I get to take care of DD by myself all day. Woot.

No sleeping in for me. I do plan to see my mom for lunch and get a half price frappucino in the afternoon. H will be home by 6 and can handle putting munchkin to bed.

  • We went to a local zoo/safari place with my parents, sister & her family, and my brother/FSIL.

Like you if I don't plan something then DH won't.  I told him yesterday all wanted for Mother's Day was for him to get up early to get the chicken in the oven, and help get the kids ready for the day so I could relax a little bit.  Neither of those happened.  So yeah, like you I'm a little disappointed but whatever,  there's always next year!
