I fell down the stairs this morning. While holding Cole. I dropped him.
He's fine, took him to the pedi to get checked out, I'm sore and bruised but physically fine. It was so scary though. I couldn't even pick him up because I knocked the wind out of me and couldn't move or breathe for a couple minutes. Luckily DH was there and picked him up and he stopped crying pretty quickly. I'm so thankful he's ok!
So my Mother's Day weekend PSA is be careful on the stairs! I can't wait til we move out of this house into our new one, with no stairs!
Re: Feeling like mother of the year
Very glad to hear that you are ok, and so is baby!
This is one of my fears. Don't dwell, accidents happen and the most important thing is that you are both ok!
So glad you are both ok!
I've been worried about that happening to me since we bought our home a year ago. Most of the time I just baby wear D if I am going to go up or down the stairs. Then I can hold onto the rail. I'm just paranoid that way.
Don't beat yourself up! Accidents happen, unfortunately. DS1 fell out of bed at 2 months old. I was exhausted after working a 12-hr hospital shift and fell asleep too close to the edge while nursing. Poor DS2 fell out of the swing (being a chunk, we didn't realize he could scoot out) at 4 months, and DH fell while carrying him up the stairs today.
Stairs can definitely be a terrible thing though. I understand the frustration and the looking forward to no stairs. We went from no stairs at our old house, to a 3-story townhome here. Within the first week (before baby gates were installed) DS1 fell down the stairs 3 times. And by falling, I mean "head over feet" pencil-like falling. I definitely look forward to moving next year and having no stairs hopefully.
ETA: Glad that you guys are okay though!
so scary. Glad to hear everyone is ok. Soak in a bath tonight!
Oh my, I'm glad u and baby are ok! That's so scary! I'm glad your DH was home to help your LO and yourself.
LO rolled off the couch a couple weeks ago and I felt horrible.
Very happy to hear that you are BOTH okay!
Try not to feel too bad, accidents happen!
