Anyone have tips on dealing with LO sitting up in the crib and not being able to lay back down. From watching her on the video monitor, she seems to almost fall asleep or be in a light sleep and then role to her tummy, and then get on her hands and knees and then sit and then she is awake and will either start babbling or fussing.
On Saturday I had to go in and lay her back down 9 times after putting her to bed and 4 more times later at night. Tonight it was 7 times. I don't want to leave her to just figure it out because if she gets really worked up, she gets the hiccups and that will keep her from going to sleep.
thanks in advance for any help!
Re: Sitting up in the crib
Really couldn't have said it better myself! My kids are the same age as Squirrel29's -- for sure, it is frustrating but phases pass, even when they don't seem like they will.
I totally understand wanting to not let LO get worked up at night since whatever gets LO to sleep quickest (including laying her down multiple times) is the goal.
Practice is what'll get LO to pick up on how to get up & down. I say put LO in the crib for some time while you clean LOs room or what not so LO has time to practice sitting up, pulling up on the rails or what not and of course getting back down. My LO loves to 'play' in her crib while I clean her room or get dressed myself or put away her laundry. That way LO practices but not at night when you just want LO to go to sleep.
We've learned there's nothing we can do.
Wait til she starts STANDING in the crib. Last weekend our little guy didn't want to go to bed for beans. He stood himself up but was sleepy so he ended up falling over & hitting the side of the crib. He only hit his hand but it was enough to frighten him. My husband went in to comfort him & put him back down & he fell right asleep. Later that night he woke up again & sat himself up...he ended up falling asleep sitting up. We laid him back down with only a little fussing.
