One & Done: Only child

What are you doing for Mother's Day?

Any exciting plans? Are you hoping for a family day or some time to yourself? We are headed to a small town with a famous ice cream shop and fun boutiques. Just want to get out of the city. Not sure what else.

  • Well yours sounds fun!

I don't know what we're doing.  DH has something planned, but he won't tell me.

Honestly though, what I really want is a day off.  Off of everything.  That would be nice.

  • We have a whole fun weekend planned.   Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection today and feel like absolute crud.. so hopefully I enjoy it all as much as I should.

Tomorrow AM we are going to a brunch - will be my grandmother, mom, me and my daughter, 4 generations.   After that we have to go to the mall- my daughters artwork was chosen to be on display there from school, so we're going to see it.  Then DH and kiddo are taking me out to my favorite restaurant for dinner (hopefully I can taste food by then, ugh).

Sunday we are having some family over and doing a BBQ :)

Sounds like everyone will have an enjoyable weekend!

I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds.  Lots of family time, and also a good chunk of alone time too.

Tomorrow is my nephew's first birthday and party.  I expect that will be a fun engagement. On Sunday (okay, it was my suggestion) my husband is taking our girl and going to visit his grandmother and mom (along with the requisite spouses, plus his uncle and his brother) for a nice lunch and I will have the day to myself.  I'm sure it would be more polite of me to go, but a day alone sounds like heaven!

He suggested they stay there Saturday night (It's two hours away), but I told him I thought that might be too much alone time! For some reason, I think that would make me feel really lonely.

They will be home in time for dinner on Sunday and my mom will be coming over to eat with us. I'm really looking forward to the whole weekend!

We're hoping for a zoo trip tomorrow but my poor baby has been sick (adenovirus and a double ear infection). He's on the mend but he's still weak and has some disturbing looking (though not serious) eye discharge so unless that clears up and there's no fever, I don't want to to risk taking him out and wearing him down or infecting anyone else. We have a plan B for a special takeout dinner at home in case we're grounded.

i know! I seriously thought about checking into a hotel by myself. Just one night watching bad tv in a clean hotel room. But DD is sleeping okay and I want to save that for when she is sleeping bad lol!

  • We're doing brunch with my mom and grandma, then something fun if A takes a good nap in the afternoon. The weather is supposed to be much cooler, so I'm thinking we might try a museum or indoor park.
