Getting DS to poop on potty

My DS has gotten pretty good at using the potty to pee and will often go on his own and come tell me he went, but refuses to poop. I try the same positive re-enforcement I used to get him to pee (stickers, praise) but he won't go. He likes to hide when he poops, so I put his potty in a semi-private area of the  living room so he can have privacy, but its not working. Any tips?

    2 things you can try, take away his bottoms so he either has to poop on the potty or on the floor. For privacy I put my dd on the toliet then close the door but stand outside it. She likes to be alone & yells when she is done. Even in public I get her on & settled then stand outside the stall & hold her door so she can poop alone. It works

    Is he in trainers or underwear? DS was in underwear and hated the feeling of having poop in them.

    I've read that sprinkling 'special' glitter in the potty may help. Make it less scary.

    we offered bigger rewards for poop in the beginning. We bought a hot wheels type helicopter, which is something he would really like. We put it in a plastic baggie and taped it above the potty as incentive.

    We are finishing up his last diaper pack, then using undies...I refuse to buy more. He was excited for the underwear, but now wants diapers...i think bc we have a newborn and he knows shes in diapers too. I did the no bottoms thing yesterday and its been great for pee. I put pants on him (no diaper) to let him play outside and he pooped in them. 

    It was suggested to me to put a pull up over his underwear when we go out incase of accidents, I might try this too.
