Trouble TTC

XP: ER Complete

We just got back from ER, they were able to take out 5 eggs. I'm not sure how I feel about there only being 5 eggs but I suppose it's better than nothing at all so I am at least grateful for that.

I'm not sure if the meds I was on had anything to do with the number of follicles/eggs that were there. My doctor had me on Clomid and injectables for this cycle and from what I've read, I've always seen different med (and a lot more of them) in other's IVF cycles. When I research this online, it seems that I may have done a "mini IVF" as it would be considered back in the states.

I love our RE and all but I have to admit, the language barrier is hard sometimes. He did his best to explain the difference between a 3 day and 5 day transfer, which we will determine when we go back in on Monday morning but I'm still a little puzzled as to why you would do a 3 day transfer instead of waiting until day 5? Obviously, if they can grow an extra two days and there are better success rates at a 5 day transfer, what would be the benefit of doing a 3 day transfer? TIA!

It does sound like you did a min IVF. And the reasoning behind 3 vs. 5 dt is usually due to growing rate. If they're not splitting and growing as fast as they'd like, there has been more sucess with them continuing to grow inside you. Five dt is for rockstar growth. Obviously, 5 would be great, but if the embryologist suggests 3dt, you'd rather have than, then none of them make it to five days.
