still dealing with eczema

For months we have been trying to get my sons eczema under control. The doc thinks its probably because of the cat we have. We have been trying to find a home for her but haven't had much luck and we don't want to give her to the animal shelter because we were told they would just put her down. Anyways, I put hydrocortisone cream on him daily, but im wondering if its ok to put it on the top of his hands and fingers too. They are super dryer and cracking and peeling. Ive tried just lotion on his hands but it doesn't seem to help much.

Re: still dealing with eczema

  • We have this problem too.  I'm combining hydrocortisone with Aquaphor at night and Aveeno eczema cream in the morning.  I've found the Aquaphor and Aveeno help more with the dryness; the hydrocortisone is really best for the redness.  Good luck!

  • My dr suggested mixing the hydrocortisone with a bit of Polysporin for really chapped and aggravated patches in addition to the Aveeno, GlaxalBase, etc, that seems to help!  Good Luck!

  • The hydrocortisone only helped temporarily for us.  When I stopped using it, the eczema got so much worse.  Aveeno Eczema did the trick for us.  It cleared it all up and hasn't come back in weeks!

  • Has your doctor mentioned seeing an allergist? It could be a dairy or gluten or egg from your diet if you BF allergy.
