For anyone who was curious my prove up hearing was ridiculous. Just to vent this hearing was set for a month after I filed for a default judgment regarding paternity and custody and therefore put my support case on hold. I had to get babysitting which required my mother, who I am eternally thankful for, to get up 3 hrs before she usually does to get to my house by 7:30. I had to buy appropriate court attire to fit me since I'm in between maternity clothes and my old clothes still. I drove 30 min and waited 15 min in line just to get to court on time. I sat waiting for half an hour for court to begin. And for all that...I spoke to the judge for 2 min because he was curious!!!
He said that no visitation is unusual and while he would grant it regardless because BD had not responded he was curious why I wanted no visitation. When I told him it was at BD's request he just said that's unfortunate and granted my judgment. He was a very nice man and hopefully he'll remember me when I'm there in another month for my support hearing, but seriously!?
I know the court is just trying to look out for the best interests of children but it was a frustrating experience since it delayed my whole process enough that now, since the first available court date for a support hearing isn't until the end of June, I will now be dealing with all this after I go back to work instead of having it finished and done. Agh!
