XP Merlin Sleep Suit users: how long?

Those of you who used a sleep suit, how long did your baby use it?

The company seems to indicate that you can use it for several months, but I'd love if we could transition out of it earlier. My son has been in his for about 3 weeks, but it's starting to get hot out here, and I feel bad stuffing the kid into a giant puffy suit.

I used mine from 4 months until 6 months. It was winter at the time but I just used a light sleeper with no onesie. I got her out of it because she was trying to roll & I was going to have to buy her a size up & didn't want to.

We went to Texas with it once & when it was very warm I've just put her in it in a diaper only (we were trying not to turn on the air). But I always keep it the same temp in the room she sleeps (69-71) regardless on the outside temp so it really didn't matter.

We used it from 4-7 months and would have used it until college but she started rolling in the crib and the suit prevented her from rolling tummy to back. Her sleep patterns still haven't gone back to what they were when we used the suit.

When it stopped seeming like it was working I stopped using it. That was around 6 months. I was terrified to take her out of it but she was starting to sleep poorly even using it. She had one or two rough nights and then she learned to roll over and started sleeping on her belly. Never would have predicted that she would be a belly sleeper. That was good until she learned how to flip back again and then she just flipped around in the crib all night long.

We started using it when she was just over 3 months and stopped using it when we did sleep training at 6.5 months.

We used it for DS for about 2 months. I stopped about a week ago when it started getting hot here. Other than the fact that he can roll and crawl around in the crib now (and does for about 10 minutes before settling down at night), he is sleeping just fine without it.

Maybe you can try it a night or two without it and if it is awful, turn on your A/C or something to keep the house cool at night for a little while longer...Good luck!
