Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

anyone?

Anyone else have this happen? DS is the sweetest little boy-- gives lots of kisses and affection. For the past 3-4 days he has not done so at all... has actually been miserable. I know he is teething, but he has literally been teething since 6 months and hasn't done this during that time. He has 11 teeth (one top molar coming in now)... Could this be the reason for the change? I mean he still comes to me from time to time, but lately he has just wants to be on his own for the most part... sleeping at night has also become worse.. he never has slept through the night, but for the past few nights he has been up  A LOT.... just looking for input I guess..

Re: anyone?

  • Molars are a whole different teething animal.  I'd suspect the tooth.  Does Advil change his disposition?  If so, then the tooth is mostly likely your answer. Try giving him something cold to chew on.  A moist rag frozen (just moisten one end so he can hold onto the other end) can work wonders.

  • Sounds like teething, but keep an eye out for a fever. We thought DS was teething for a few days, but turns out it was an ear infection. He was pretty inconsolable though.

  • Ditto what pp said about the ear infection!  Most likely teething, but keep an eye out.  A few weeks ago Shawn was pretty inconsolable all day and was up every 2 hours at night for 3 nights in a row, but then, all of a sudden, he was back to normal.  DH and I went out of town and while my parents were watching DS, he had a febrile seizure, found out he had a horrible ear infection!  I felt like the worst mom ever, how could I not have known???  But he gave no signs other than grouchiness which I chalked up to teething.  (Now he's fine BTW :))

BUT, probably teeth.  I've heard molars can be a *** and am not looking forward to it.  At all.
