Pointless Poll

Today is my one day off this week and I get to clean the house before the ILs come up this weekend. Yay. How do you clean the house?

A) Systematically moving from one room to another finishing them one at a time.

B) Jumping from room to room as you go.

C) Clean house? Ain't nobody got time for that!

D) Not my problem, I have a house cleaner (if this is your answer know that I'll hate you just a little bit)

Re: Pointless Poll

  • I'm a C until the mess piles up so badly I get stressed out just looking at it.

Then I make a plan to be an A and get things done in an orderly fashion, but then I find something in the bedroom that belongs in the bathroom and get sidetracked and clean there instead and end up all over the place.

Then I'm  B until the house is about 90% clean. Then my brain shuts off, I lose steam and give up with the house only mostly clean; I don't think I've ever been 100% satisfied with one of my house cleanings. Sigh. I hate cleaning...and laundry.....and dishes.

  • I am a combination of A,B and D.  My DH and I both work FT so we have a cleaner that does floors, bathroom, dusting, etc for main rooms only.  This is only 2 x's a month so there is also cleaning we do in between visits.  Vac floors, pick up floors, keep bathrooms clean, dishes, laundry, etc. We also don't have them do all the rooms (kids, guest, office, etc). So we keep those areas clean ourselves.  This keeps the cleaning charge affordable for us.

I usually try to start with one room at a time but end up finding something in another room when I go to put something away.  Then I generaly find 5 other things to clean in that room before I am back to original room where I have not made a dent.  Then I usually give up b/c someone will come in the room and destroy it again or littlest one will wake up from a nap and it starts all over again.

  • I am not sure which one I fall into.  I will sometimes finish one room before moving to another but other times I do a little in each room because I am in a time crunch.  I have to do bit by bit usually because time never allows me to clean the whole house in one day.  I would love a house cleaner!

I am so very jealous!  That would be wonderful!

  • If I had a special brownie first (the most effective way to clean house... or cut the grass) I'd be a B... but I am a freaking firecracker when I'm on a clean house mission!  GET OUT OF MY WAY!  AND NO DH YOU CAN'T HELP CUZ I'LL JUST HAVE TO RE-DO IT LATER!  haha buuuut since DD we've hired a D...  so i'm not as crazy (def directly related)... or at least i don't think.  :P
  • I strive to be A but lately I'm definitely C. But either A nor C is practical so I usually end up being B, but that's only when the house is at a point of total disaster that I just can't take it anymore.

And even though I don't have a D, I'll have to admit that my DH is great at doing a quick clean on the house weekly. And he'd actually prefer to do the cleaning since he says I take too long. And even though his quick cleaning is not all that thourough, I'll take what I can get!

  • I am B....like most everyone else, my whole house is never clean at once! I vacuum and sweep the floors every day because we have 3 inside pets and some days I don't get any farther than doing that and picking up. I have gotten incredibly organized so everything has a place, because if my house was messy on top if dirty I would lose my mind. As soon as I am done with school we are getting a D for sure! I am the worst at laundry, between diapers and DD's clothes I don't have time for much else. At one point our sheets went almost a month without getting washed. GROSS.

  • E.  A little tiny bit every day

I just can't do a big cleaning ever.  Life, Work, DH's crazy sleep schedule just never allow for it.

So I do a tiny bit at a time.
