Here is mine. At 6 months postpartum, I think that it is ridiculous to call extra weight "baby weight." You have had 6 months to lose it. At that point, you really can't blame pregnancy anymore.

Re: Unpopular Opinion Thursday
I agree. I actually looked better 3 months pp than I do now at 4 months, but its my own fault because I barely exercise and since I work from home, I'm totally over eating. It's hard, though!
Mine is I hate how critical everyone is on this site. We're all here for help and to have other mamas to talk to... I just wish everyone was supportive! Sometimes I don't post things because I don't feel like being criticized I get enough of that other places! For the record, you ladies have been pretty great.
BFP #1: 05/2012 DS born 12/30/12
BFP #2: 02/2014 Natural M/C 03/2014 @ 7 weeks
BFP #3: 06/2014 EDD: 02/17/2015 M/C @ 7w2d, D&E 7/15/14
Agreed. Bitchy Judgey moms suck!
I agree. Who's business is it anyways if you havent lost all the baby weight? I too have eight pounds to loose but I'm perfectly fine if the weight doesn't come off since I was underweight anyways before pregnancy. Life is too short to criticize others.
I totally didn't take this as judging whatsoever. Shoot, none of us are 6 months pp yet anyways!
Actually...I think one or two are...didn't we have a couple unintentional November mamas?
My UO: I think Disney and Disneyland/world are overrated.
And a mid-October one, me! I have lost all the baby weight but I missed the 3rd tri entirely so I didn't gain a ton either.
I have lost all the baby weight but I missed the 3rd tri entirely so I didn't gain a ton either.
I was feeling particularly crappy about my body at my LO's last Dr's appointment and the doc was so kind in reminding me that it is 9 months up and 9 months down, and to go easy on myself and enjoy my baby while she is an infant.
I use J&J products with no guilt about it.
I was pregnant with #2 after 8 months, even after a C/S.
I wash the baby clothes with whatever laundry I have. I use whatever detergent and fabric softener I have on hand.
Oops! Sorry ladies!
Brenda... I agree with you on all accounts! Don't feel bad about being upset your MIL. I would feel the same way. DH and I started dating on St. Patty's Day back in '04. Before were married yet his sister wanted to come visit over that day and I was pissed that he told her to come although after a huge fight, she stayed home and came later on.
If I try to restrict calories or exercise my milk supply tanks. This baby weight will probably be around until DS is on solids and starting to wean. Given that I feel completely justified in calling this baby weight past 6 months. Not trying to get snippy, just offering another perspective. I can't wait to get to start exercising again.
My UO: I think tutus and animal print clothes are awful and would never dress a daughter in either. I also hate shirts that say little princess, spoiled, etc...
This. It took nine months to get it all. Nine months is allowed to get it all off IMO.
Taking an infant to Disney is stupid. We're waiting til he is out of kindergarten.
I'd be pissed too if mil horned in on my Mother's Day. Tell your hubs that she can't come over. It's your day!
I didn't know that I was supposed to be worried about J&J products.
My kid has been screaming since 6am YESTERDAY. I don't know what his problem is but he's inconsolable so right now he's CIO in his crib.
i agree with Disney. It's super expensive and not worth it -IMO.
WOW. I'm going to have to be honest and say I find this incredibly judgmental and ignorant. It's often said that it takes a full year for a women's body to completely recover from pregnancy and childbirth. Not to mention, hormones are still off for the entire duration of breastfeeding. Those things will absolutely affect weight. Plus, it's not at all out of the ordinary for a woman's body to be forever changed by pregnancy and yes, that IS baby weight. At least save the judgement for 9mo pp so the mom has as much time to "take it off" as she did to put it on before you put her in the lazy category. Everyone is different and growing and birthing another human is a huge undertaking.
Is makes me really sad that some women feel this way about other women.
Just, wow.

i'm still confused at the diff between uo and fffc? a lot of them seem to be the same?
on that note
i let my baby watch tv...i don't plop her in front of it as a babysitter, but if she's fussing while changing her diaper, or just fussy, i put on disney junior....she loves mickey mouse clubhouse and jake and the neverland pirates, and doc msctuffins and sofia the first (ok fine, maybe i use her as an excuse so i can watch these shows...whatevs) but it calms her down....she likes the lights and the moving pictures and all the songs....she also loves to watch digital picture frames.....dh and i watch a lot of tv, so it's unavoidable...most of the time i'm holding her or feeding her so she's not even paying that much attention...
on a similar note and it's been mentioned before, i guess i have the uo....i can not wait to take dd to disney world! i'm trying to find the money to see if we can't even go this sept....she'll be 9 months....but if not this year, we're def going next year...we like to go in sept, and it seems we go on even years ('08 we got engaged, '10 we celebrated our 1 year anniv, '12 was our babymoon) so she'll be 21 months....i'm already planning the vacation and trying to figure out all the logistics of it....i could hardly go on rides while pregnant so it won't be that different ride wise from the last time we went, and we had a blast without going on all the rides...we did a lot of shows and met a lot of characters....i don't see a problem with bringing a baby to disney...they may not remember it but who cares...i have pics of me, not even 1 at disney world....
Ouch. I mean it took 9 months to gain it so unfortunately not all of us can lose it at the drop of a hat. I still have about 20 lbs to go.
I don't understand the difference either.
They're naturally going to kind of overlap, but in my mind an opinion is an opinion. Like, not liking hair bows on girls or something. A confession is something juicier like I think formula is poison (I think the weight thing would have qualified as a confession, really) or something that really happened like, I let my baby CIO for an hour last night.*
*I like hair bows on girls, I don't think formula is poison, and I didn't let my baby cry for an hour

that's what i thought, but some of the uo's read as confessions....mine included i suppose....
and my opinion on bows has changed since i found some cute small (like 2") bows on etsy that i may or may not have ordered, but still not a fan of like huge ginormous big as your head bows....
I use J&J products and don't plan on stopping. Everyone I know has used J&J and everyone is fine.
Like a PP said I also feed DD almost everytime she wakes up at night. If she is just moving around for more than 5 mins and not crying I still feed her. She goes back to sleep and it beats getting up 50 times to give her the pacifier for her to wake up in another hour.
I used to think going to Disneyland was dumb if your child wasn't old enough to remember, but now I kind of want to go. More for me than the baby of course haha. I'm sure I will hold off until she's a few years old though.
I hate how judgmental some people can be on here. There are a few things I don't post because I don't feel like being lectured or judged. We are all here for support from other mothers and everyone has a different way of parenting. Not everyone agrees, but I truly believe we are all doing the best we can for our babies.
My husband works out of town a lot and DD only power naps, so yes I let her watch some tv so I can get things done. I would wear her, but she doesn't really like to be held a lot and it kills my back. If letting her watch tv gives me 30 mins to clean my house than whatever it's what happens.
While I don't think you're wrong, in the same token I feel like sometimes people are too easily offended. We are all here to give and get support and part of that is sharing information. We all benefit from being more knowledgeable and hearing other opinions. I like to subscribe to the idea that no one can make you feel inferior without your permission. I think a lot of times, if someone feels put down by another's opinion it's because they're not confident enough in their choices OR don't feel good about what they're doing. JMO

This! Although, my son does have a zebra print diaper and a giraffe print diaper, but I don't think those count.
My UO is that I've been kind of appalled at all the posts I've seen this week saying "Mother's Day is MY day! MIL needs to back off." Um, no. MIL is still a mother. It's both your day equally. (It's also a Hallmark holiday, but that's a whole different issue).
You're not alone! One of my all time favorite parenting moments was when DH pooped while babywearing... only to realize after he was done that the Moby tails were dangling into the toilet bowl. Oops.
I completely agree that some people are easily offended, but I've read some pretty harsh and critical comments that weren't providing any kind of opinion or stating anything helpful, just simply judgemental. I've never felt like this on here, nor will anyone on here ever make me feel inferior. I just said that from a few things I've seen. I am completely confident in my decisions, but I also don't feel the need to post certain things because they are against the majority view and I just choose not to. However, I do enjoy everyone and I have learned a lot from everyone.
