The time has come.....

Well it looks like I will be putting LO in daycare starting the 20th.  I am sad I am unable to spend my days with her, it has been the best 4 months. I am working from home and my workload is picking up so I decided it was time for childcare. She will be going to a large daycare located in a church up the road. I am just crossing my fingers everything is going to be alright. I will probably be a mess on Monday. Any advice from others who have their LO's in daycare? Should I try next week on getting her to sleep in her crib for all naps? Right now she is in her swing.

Re: The time has come.....

  • Mine is starting full daycare on June 1, so I am in the same boat.  We are starting to incorporate less swing naps to get him used to it.  He's getting too big for his swing anyways.  I know he doesn't need the swing anymore, it's just so much easier than laying him flat/no motion.  He'll whimper himself to sleep in 2 minutes in the swing, versus the '8th times a charm' method we have going when he's flat at night.   not to mention that a good nap is hard to come by in the first place.

  • We started daycare last week. It hasn't been so bad.. He's not really taking very good naps there yet but I'm hoping once he gets used to it. Our daycare is very communicative, telling us when he eats, naps, diaper changes etc and I feel like he's on good hands. I look forward to weekends so much more now, but gotta admit getting a paycheck again is great too. Good luck!!

The first day is the worst..I cried after I dropped him off and even went by on my lunch. Day two was much easier and now it's no issue at all because I can see how much he enjoys his d/c lady and how great she is to him. After a week or so he started getting into a pattern (I wouldn't call anything a schedule at 4 months old). He sleeps in his RNP or PNP at home and at d/c he sleeps in a PNP with a PNP mattress in it.

  • I took off work some next week to focus on trying to get her to sleep in the crib drowsy but awake. I hope it works out. I am afraid she wont sleep at all at daycare. At home she likes the room to be kind of dark and a loud white noice playing. Im sure nothing like it will be at daycare.
