Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Too early waking?

I posted the other day about my early riser - he's gotten earlier... 4:30 -4:45 every morning. He already goes to bed by 6:30 and later bedtimes seem to still result in the same wakeup time so I don't think pushing it later will help. He's not a good napper either. 30 min naps - sometimes he'll surprise me with an hour or more. Does earlier equal better? What have your experiences been? I'm scared to push it too early for fear I'll be up at 3:30 every morning with him... TIA
Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements
March 11, 2014 ovulated despite every doctors prognosis!!!
Oct 2014 hormones (FSH 48, Estradiol 89, HCG 1) not good, but heckuva lot better!

Nov. 16, 2015 FET of single adopted 5AA embryo - BFN

Re: Too early waking?

  • Dd only sleeps 9 to 10.5 hours at night since 4 months. If she goes to sleep at 630 she's up by 5. Some babies sleep 12, DS did, but not her. Lately she's been taking a short nap between 530 and 6. Then she's ready for bed between 7 and 8. It takes at least 30 minutes or more for her to finally be asleep. Now she wakes up between 630 and 730. Much better. She did the switch on her own though. If she wakes up before 6 we stay in her room and leave the lights off and I don't talk. If she wants to play I lay her in her crib while I sit in the chair. She will play for a while, then she's ready to back to sleep.

  • This was a very long phase for DS. He started waking at 4:30ish every morning, nand it lasted a couple months. After that, he slowly started sleeping later and later until he was back to 6:00-6:30 in the morning.

    That's promising - I'm hoping it's a phase..

Does she nap well during the day? DS sleeps about the same at night, but his daytime sleep only averages around 2 hrs most days (like I said, sometimes I'm lucky with a longer nap, but it's usually about 4 30 min naps) so I'm concerned he's not getting enough rest...

If she doesn't get enough sleep at night she naps bad. Here's what today has been- Last night she finally went to sleep about 9 (she wasn't able to nap normal yesterday so she was over tired and it took 2 hours to get her to bed) up for the day at 730 today. Nap from 10-12:15, then nap again starting at 2:15. This nap will most likely be between 40 and 60 minutes. Then she will take a cat nap later.

  • My son sleeps for 11 hours, irregardless of what time he went to bed. But for him bedtime needs to be between 6:30 and 7:30 or he is a basket case.  There was a few days early this week that he felt 5 a.m. was a good time to wake up. Like PPs have said, when that happened, I fed him, and laid him back in his crib to see what would happen. He fussed and talked to himself for about 5 minutes, and then fell back to sleep. You could try just laying LO back down again and see if that happens.

I tried, but it was a no go. He played for about 30 minutes and let me know in no uncertain terms he was up for the day. If I try to get him back to sleep he will go down after about 2 hrs, but I figure I might as well get my day started and things accomplished in those two hours since that's when he'd nap again anyways...

That's how DS was. He was bright eyed and ready to party at 4:30 in the morning. I just made coffee and rolled with it.
