Short summary of why I had it done so early in TTC. I was dx with PCOS in April of 2008, was only on meds for about 6 months, had to stop because of shiity insurance. FF to now, we're on month 7 of TTC & I decided it would be a good idea to go back to the RE to get back on meds for PCOS, nothing more. Dr wanted to re-do my original labs since it had been so long & decided to add a sono HSG.
This brings us to today. I went in for the appt assuming everything would be fine, had no reason to think otherwise. They started to procedure, tons of pressure & eventually the little balloon popped out. They kept going, ended up reinserting the cath & balloon, I laid there & tried to ignore as much of their talk as possible.
Once it was done, the Dr said well the cavity looks good but...and then my heart sank. Apparently, they were filling up my ute & it was blowing up like a balloon; zero fluid went into either tube. When he released the plunger on the syringe the saline pushed back into the line.
Dr told me we'd review it after my next u/s & figure things out from there. The nurse came in (& saw me bawling like a biitch), she said they'd probably have me do the procedure again at the hospital. Then the u/s tech came back & (again saw my sobbing) all she would say is there are ways around the tubes.
I have no idea what's next for us but, for now, I'm devastated. I had every expectation of being told my tubes looked great today. If I have 2 useless tubes, I assume IVF is our only option.
I'm trying to stay hopeful that my tubes are ok. Common sense & the looks on the faces of my dr & the tech, tell me otherwise. Has anyone had a blockage that was able to be cleared once they used contrast dye? Or if saline couldn't clear it, am I pretty much boned?
Thanks for reading my rant. I hate today.
Re: Sono HSG- not good news(longish story)
I am so, so sorry. That really sucks.
Team Purple!!!!
I'm supposed have an Hsg next month before we move to lap surgery and my RE made it sound like there were several possible outcomes. Clear tubes, tubes that are cleared by dye, tubes that could be cleared by surgery, and tubes that can't be cleared at all. It's possible I misunderstood, but I wouldn't lose all hope yet until you get a chance to talk to someone and go through the other procedures. FX for you!

I'm sorry! Hugs!!
Sorry, that really sucks! Hopefully there is something they can do to help!
Because of what my insurance covers (and dh and I not willing to pay so much out of pocket), if drugs aren't seen as right for me to try, ivf will be in my future too. It's stressful, I know!

Mine didn't go over those options. I hope there is some way to clear them. I've never had any issues. I've never had so much as a UTI or YI. I've got some researching to do.
Hope your's goes smooth as silk! FWIW, the procedure was fairly painless until they got to the blockage.
Thanks everyone! I'm not looking forward to telling DH about this. (He had a repeat SA scheduled for 30 mins after I left the office. Didn't want to distract him.)
Becky,
I am so sorry to hear this. I wish I could hug you, feed you lumpia. Drink a drank with you.
I'll be praying for you and your DH.
There is still hope.

Again, I'm so sorry. The uncertainty always makes things so difficult. I hope you get some answers soon!
Thanks everyone. Just have to wait to talk to the Dr to see what he's thinking. Now that I've calmed down a little bit, it looks like there are a few surgical options to clear them. They don't sound fun but, this will be something I can use for guilt-tripping kids in the future, right?

So sorry!
I had a blocked tube. They diagnosed mine during my lap to DX/treat endometriosis. They showed me the pictures they took during the surgery and mine was blown up like a balloon. Since mine was blocked because of endo, I did 6 months of Lupron depo to help clear it out. 6 months of Lupron was no picnic but it has helped SO MUCH and really opened things back up.
Keeping my FX that there is a way to open your tubes back up. Keeping you in my T&P.
