Angel Care monitor question

I can't find the owner's manual and have a question. Can the monitor be used without the pad? If so, how do you do it? There have been a couple times that DS has been somewhere other than in his bed that I would like to have the monitor on because I am going to the basement or back of the house. TIA

    Yes, just unplug the pad. We take it to my parents and use it with only the sound monitor.
