I am looking into getting a doula for my second child. My first birth experience was HORRIBLE and I'm hoping to not have an experience like that again... That being said, I've had two doulas recommended to me. One recommended by a trainer with zero unattended births, I would be her first. She just finished her training this past March. The other has been a doula for a year with 9 births under her belt. I'm meeting with both of them over the weekend to get a feel for how we connect. My question is, would you let the fact that one has little experience while one has none as far as unattended births go, deterr your decision making? I'm just so new to this doula business!

I would totally consider the new doula! If your personalities click and you get awesome vibes from her and she makes you feel comfortable and at ease then I believe that is the most important thing. My doula basically continuously told me how awesome, strong and excellent I was doing, rubbed my back in all the right places, fetched me food and drinks, fed me Popsicles and made me feel like a warrior woman. This sounds funny but you will know when you have found the right doula for you!
When I met mine, I knew in the first minute that it was a good match, and we hadn't even started talking about labor/delivery at all! You'll know!
Go with the doula that you click with.
We used a student doula and I was actually her first birth. She was our Bradley instructor and we felt very comfortable around her. I knew she was knowlegable about birth due to the fact that she was a Bradley instructor. She had 3 births, 1st that involved every intervention possible including a c-section. 2nd one she became informed and she got her VBAC. 3rd was a very nescessary c-section. She did awesome at my birth and we used her again for DD2.
