So today I had my follow up appointment for the antral follicle u/s the OB who did my ectopic surgery ordered for me. At the time of the u/s the tech didn't seem to know what she was doing with regards to the antral follicle count, and this was confirmed by the OB, he actually kind of laughed at her report. She called my follicles 'cysts' and just didn't really do what he'd asked. I live in a small town with a tech who comes in for only a day or two a week and the OB (who is in the city an hour away) said its likely she's never actually had to do a count.
Anyways, OB said it looks like I had some follies and that's a good sign, but he wants me to go ahead and do more testing as I'll be 40 in a few months and he doesn't see the point in waiting. I tried for four months before my ectopic pregnancy, and have now been trying for another three, so he figures if I get testing out of the way now we'll be ready to figure out next steps if I don't get my BFP in the next few months. He also wants to make sure my one remaining tube is clear. So, I'll go for an HSG and Day 3 FSH, LH, AMH, and Estradiol bw next cycle, and also Day 21 progesterone bw. Oh and of course hubby has to do an SA, luckily he took that in stride, although he definitely wants to do that bit of business at home and not at the office, we'll see if that's possible! Lol
Now for my question. OB is very impressed with my charting and confident that I know when I've O'd. He also knows I have shorter cycles, and because CD21 bw is based on a typical 28 day cycle, said I should adjust when I go in for it based on when I've actually ovulated. Well, this cycle I O'd on CD9 (last Saturday), so that means I should do my bw on CD16. Problem is, CD16 will be Saturday, and of course our lab isn't open on weekends. Should I go in on Friday CD15, or wait until Monday CD18? Which would be more accurate for what they'll be looking for? I didn't do the date math until the end of the hour long drive home front the appointment, so couldn't ask OB.
Thanks in advance for any advice you might have! I'm nervous about all this early testing but glad for the opportunity to see how everything is doing in there.

Yes you need a sonographer who is use to counting AFC properly....
You should be able to go on Friday or Monday and get pretty accurate report I would ask your Dr which he prefers.

Yes, I'm really liking this OB so far, he's very open to charting, discusses my cycles with me like I actually know what I'm talking about instead of talking down to me, and basically makes me feel like an equal in all of this. I'm not sure if things here in Canada are the same as in the US with regards to OB/RE's, but so far I'm happy sticking with him as long as I can!
Oh, and my sister got referred to the same OB for something, she was talking to the receptionist about her appointment and it came up that we were from the same town. My sister mentioned that I was her sister, and that I'd been to the same OB, and the receptionist heard my name and said, "Oh, yes, she was the one with the ectopic in January right?" It was just so nice to hear that they remember me, I'm not just a number to them. Made my day!
