I'm trying to decide where to register and I'm definitely going to do target and a baby store. I'm trying to decide between babies r us and buy buy baby.
We did Target and BRU last time. We don't have BBB near us.
If I had to do it over, I would have gone with Target only, maybe adding amazon. I liked the larger selection available at BRU, which is why we picked it. I think we only got two presents from there. One was a stroller from my own parents, the other a small gift from my MIL.
So in my experience, my family and friends did not shop at the baby stores. They aren't as convenient as going to Target and are overpriced (at least BRU is). As my showers got closer I kept on having to move items from BRU to Target.
BBB hands down. BRU could be compared to K-Mart or Walmart where BBB is like Target in terms of level of quality and cleanliness/customer service/availability of stock. It's also run by Bed Bath and Beyond and has the same (much better, IMO) registry process as Bed Bath and Beyond for purchases and returns.
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.
Buy Buy Baby can be a little expensive, but usually has a better selection. A not so well known fact: they are are owned by Bed, Bath, and Beyond and will take their coupons. So all those 20% off coupons will come in handy.
BBB is so packed from floor to ceiling with items that it literally made me dizzy and sick being in there. It's very over stimulating. I also thought their prices were higher than BRU. The up side to BBB is that they have a HUGE selection and you get your own personal assistant to walk around with you and help you do your registry (if you want the help). I like BRU but many of my friends shop at BBB.
BBB all the way. We have both here in town but BBB is such a better store, with better selections and variety! It has an online site so out of town folks can still order off the registry. Or they'll just look at it and get what they want someplace else.
We decided to only register there as the selection can't be beat. Our Target has a very meager baby section and I couldn't imagine doing an entire registry with them. Though I do love Target.
As a PP said - BRU's return policy totally sucks!! It's probably one of the worst out there, definitely not geared towards helping the customer. We have a BBB that's about an hour away. I've picked up a few things for DS there, I liked the selection didn't think the prices were much different the BRU.
I've been into BBB twice for registries, and I really don't like it! It seems so chaotic and unorganized. I had such a hard time figuring out their order for registry items. BRU is a lot less stressful to me. But, it could just be me and/or my store!
I'm going with buy buy baby. They are the same company as Bed Bath and Beyond, and I know that we had no problems with returning things with them. Plus, they carry more of the things/brands we are looking at.
Thanks gals, I was leaning towards BBB b/c t takes the bed bath and beyond coupons and their website seems more user friendly, plus they have the stroller in the print I want:-) I"m going start an online version now so I can slowly bulk it up over the next few months. I only have like 10 minutes of stamina at a time for this sort of thing!
I guess I'm the odd man out, but we're not registering at any "baby specific" stores. I started a registry (private for now until the shower gets closer) at Target and Walmart. I haven't come across anything that can't be bought at either of those stores, and there's at least one by everyone. I think BBB and BRU are overpriced, personally, and the ones in my area at least I wasn't impressed with the selection when I checked them out.
Buy Buy Baby is better than BRU in my opinion, although BRU is more convenient for most because they have more location, plus there are some items they carry that BBB does not. I personally would not register at Target, their return policies are even worse than BRU. As long as it is on your registry BRU will take it back.
Another vote for BBB. We registered at both BBB and BRU last time. BBB was so much easier to work with. I felt like they had a much better selection and items actually were in stock when people went to purchase them. I loved the sheer number of strollers and car seats they had on display to try out! Also I find BRU to have a much more difficult return policy.
Just as another idea.. I registered last time at Amazon.com as they had almost all products we wanted at very reasonable prices. Plus my friends and family did not have to go to a store which they all liked. Especially those in England .

I'm doing both, the bigger stuff like swing, pack and play and stroller in doing at bbb cause the prices are the same but they have the 20 off coupons. The smaller stuff in doing at bru because the prices are way better. Ill have 3 registries, I like giving people options so they can go to wherever is most convenient for them

This. The closest baby store to us is over an hour away so although we will be going to BRU for the crib we picked out online, our other registries will be at Walmart and Target for convenience.
Not sure where the other ladies are from, but here BBB is extremely overpriced in comparison to BRU and has a crappy selection in comparison, especially as far as convertible cribs and the like. We've had nothing but amazing service with BRU so far and plan on only registering there, though we may use coupons we've gotten for BBB for a few items we get ourselves. Granted my parents are the extreme couponer types and already have given us a few months worth of wipes and creams and stuff they basically got for free, lol...so we don't need to register for a lot of things that might be useful to get from a Target for those who don't have parents giving them tons of stuff.
We are doing BRU and Amazon, I love Target but the stores around us don't have a huge selection but we actually liked BRU selection I live BBB but the one by us downsized I like that store to!

We did BRU b/c there's not a BBB near us. I'd go with BBB if I had the preference. I despise BRU.
If you are doing Target, I'd actually recommend Amazon. They were a dream!
