I bought a one-month membership and posted a job for an "occasional sitter" on Sittercity. I have gotten a lot of respondents, but none I am super excited about, mainly because none of them live in my actual suburb. Not that a 20 minute drive across the city is a huge deal, but not my ideal scenario. My questions is - do I bother responding to each ("thank you for applying") or just limit it to people I am actually interested in interviewing?
Second - when I interview people, do I do it in my house, so I can see how they interact with my kid, and do I pay them for their time?
Any advice appreciated.
Re: Sittercity protocol
As for the interview I would do a first interview at a coffee shop, if after that you still like them set up a second interview in your home or at a park so they can interact with you LO. Inwould do the first meet up without my child though, just to be safe!
I would send a response to each interested sitter. It was always irritating when a family just didn't respond at all. A simple....Thanks but we don't think it's a good fit...is really all you need.
I second this as this is exactly how I would handle it.
