Re: Concerns about long term health from fertility treatments
I've wondered the same thing!! I think you are ok, though. There has been tons of research and studies gone into IVF/IUI and other medical treatments for IF. One thing which is good, is that you are not on the medicines for an extended period of time. There are women who take hormone replacements everyday, for many years and never develop any kind of cancer.
I think this is a legitimate question/concern to talk to your RE about!
My RE brought up the studies that have associated fertility meds with various forms of cancer at both our initial appointment in December as well as our IVF consult last week. Essentially, he said the studies aren't conclusive that there is a link between fertility treatments and cancer. There is a higher proportion of women who are infertile developing cancer, but he feels (as well as others who have reviewed all the studies) that there is something in the underlying root cause of infertility that increases your cancer risk.
It's definitely something to consider and discuss with your RE and spouse.
О Привязать! Z!
My RE says there haven't been any conclusive studies showing a causal link between fertility treatments like IVF and cancer later in life. She does say that there has been a link between women who never bear children and a higher probability of cancer.
I'm not sure what effect polyps and surgeries might have - probably a good think to talk to your doctor about!

We are in similar situations. My husband has recently lost his mom and material grandfather within the last year. Our next step on our road to pregnancy is injectables and he has been very vocal about me visiting a general doctor to make sure that none of these fertility drugs are affecting my health. So that is my next step, just get an over all check up from a regular doc and see what they suggest.
Good Luck!!
