Does anyone's lo drink only almond milk? My lo seems to like it, but not regular milk. I think it has calcium at least it says on package.. How much do they drink?
I drink it right now because DS has a MSPI and I am BFing. Almond milk tends to be high in sugar, though there are some out there that are no sugar added, Trader Joe's has one.
Also I would check to see if it also has vitamin D added because it's hard to absorb calcium without Vitamin D.
This is not entirely accurate. Calcium needs magnesium for best absorption. Yes, vitamin D is good too, but it has to be D3 (from the sun), not the D that is found in cow's milk.
I make my own almond milk - it's very easy and I sweeten it with dates and add some cinnamon. Store bought has added chemicals to increase shelf-life. Homemade almond milk only lasts a couple days.
My son takes liquid calcium supplement (which has the appropriate magnesium ratio).

That's good to know thank you!
Btw, I had a friend who used to make Almond Milk, it was so good!
Since I'm dairy free, we tend to only have almond milk (or almond-coconut blend) in the house, unless it's my husband's fat free milk. DD doesn't drink a lot of either, but she seems to prefer the almond milk to the cow milk.
DD had a milk protein allergy until about 2 1/2. She drank almond milk during that time. Now she can have cow's milk, but doesn't like the way it tastes. She drinks the vanilla almond milk. Her pedi is perfectly fine with it, especially b/c she will eat other things containing dairy.
