Success after IF

A question for you who have successfully had a baby post IUI/IVF

Hi ladies- I have been frequenting the TTTC board for awhile now and have a question for you. yesterday I got great news that I am pregnant with a Beta of 120 and progesterone level of 16.4. I go back tomorrow for my next one. My doctor said everything was just perfect but just to make sure to stay on my progesterone supplements.  Well now I am freaking out- I have been looking up levels on line and totally scaring myself- does it get easier over time to worry less?

First, congratulations!! Second-stay away from google!! Betas and P4 levels vary greatly and there are soooo many factors that go in to them. As far as the P4, they type of supplement you are on will greatly impact blood levels.  PIO (progesterone injections) is the only one that will reflect in blood levels. Crinone and oral P do not reflect in blood levels. Try and enjoy things day by day. It is hard to relax after trying so hard to get pregnant. Honestly, I didn't feel comfortable until I could feel kicks and even then I still had some difficult days.

    Everything she said.
It gets a little easier with each milestone, 2nd tri, feeling kicks, v day, etc. but I worried until she was in my arms then I had a whole new set of worries. Do yourself a favor and step away from the google!
    Congrats and GL.

  • Congratulations! It is pretty typical to stay on progesterone until anywhere from 8-12 weeks pregnant. I neve even had my progesterone levels tested after my IVF BFP or my FET BFP. (For the FET they tested it the day of transfer.) your beta looks great. What is most important is the doubling time (or the rise) from your first beta to your second. They like to see it at 48-72 hours. I agree with PP who said to stay away from Google! I wish I could say that the worry goes away. For me it just changes as pregnancy progresses and even after the baby is born. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months. :)

  • Congratulations!

With DS2 my P4 number was really low at the first beta, 6.4 I think, and I had been on supps since trigger! They had me double the dose and everything was fine in the end. With this pg, my RE didn't even check my P4 at beta, they just kept me on the supps through 10-12 wks.

Your numbers sound great to me.

  • Thanks ladies for all your reassurances- I guess I just need to enjoy being pregnant for now. I go in for my second beta tomorrow and hopefully if it has doubled I can breathe a little bit easier.

Congrats to you!! It will get easier but the worry will never completely go away...I think its sort of embedded in our minds! At least it was for me! Step away from the computer and try to enjoy it. If not, you'll drive yourself insane. Good luck to you :
